La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's basketball team wrapped up its regular-season home schedule with a 56-42 victory over UW-Oshkosh Saturday afternoon in Mitchell Hall. The Eagles improve to 18-6 overall and 7-6 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) while the Titans drop to 17-7 overall and 7-6 in the conference.
UW-Oshkosh, receiving votes on this week's D3hoops.com Top-25 Poll, took an 10-4 lead with 1:05 left in the first quarter on a Sarah Hardwick jumper. After
Kyah Steiner cut the lead to 10-6 on a jumper, Ava Douglas' layup gave UW-Oshkosh a 12-6 lead after the opening 10 minutes. Â
Kyah Steiner had 12 points, 10 rebounds and five assists.
The Eagles opened the second quarter on a 14-0 run to lead, 20-12, with 4:16 left.
Paige Schumann's three-pointer with 6:54 remaining gave UWL a 15-12 advantage and the Eagles would not trail the rest of the game. Schumann connected on another three-point field goal to make it 20-12. Trailing 24-15, UW-Oshkosh scored the final five points to cut its halftime deficit to 24-20.Â
Liv Argall hit one-of-two at the free throw line for UW-Oshkosh to cut the lead to 25-23 with 6:44 left in the third quarter, but six straight points by UWL's
Lauryn Milne gave the Eagles a 31-23 lead with 4:20 remaining. UWL extended its lead to 35-25 with 2:38 left on a Milne layup. The Titans cut it to 37-30 with 1:19 remaining on a Kate Huml layup, but the Eagles'
Nikki Dienberg hit a three-pointer at the third quarter buzzer to make it 40-30.Â
Huml's jumper with 8:21 left cut the lead to 40-34, but UW-Oshkosh would get no closer the rest of the game. Huml made one free throw with 5:15 remaining to make it 44-37, but UWL went on a 8-0 run to lead, 52-37, on a Schumann three-pointer with 2:51 left. The Eagles led by as many 18 points in the fourth quarter.
UWL shot 36.7% from the field on Saturday, including 27.8% (five-of-18) from three-point range, and 63.6% (seven-of-11) at the free throw line. Schumann led the Eagles with 13 points while
Kyah Steiner recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Steiner also had a team-high five assists and two blocks.Â
UWL snapped a six-game losing streak to UW-Oshkosh with Saturday's win. The Titans had won 19 of the previous 22 meetings with the Eagles.Â

Lauryn Milne finished with eight points and five rebounds off the bench.
UW-Oshkosh shot 35.3% from the field, including 10.5% (two-of-19) from three-point range, and 36.4% (four-of-11) at the line. Huml led the Titans with 14 points while Hardwick finished with eight points and team-high seven rebounds.Â
UWL returns to action Wednesday, February 15 at UW-River Falls at 7 p.m. in the regular-season finale.Â
