Stevens Point, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's swimming & diving team earned a 186-112 dual victory over UW-Stevens Points Saturday in the UWSP Aquatic Center. The Eagles improve to 4-1 in duals this season, including 3-1 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC).
UWL won ten events on Saturday, including sweeping the one meter and three meter diving.
Laci Gottschalk won the one meter dive with a score of 264.75 while
Madeline Weber won the three meter dive with a score of 264.05.
Hannah Martini (260.75) and
Joanne Banaszak finished second and third in the one meter dive while Banaszak (255.80) and Gottschalk (241.50) were second and third in the three meter dive.
In swimming, the Eagles started off with a win in the 200 yard Medley Relay (1:45.93) with
Jordy Hahlen,
Lauren Steien,
Maddy Albert-Nelson and
Kylee Sommer.
Ellen Bie followed that up with a win in the 1000 yard freestyle (10:56.06). Steien then won the 100 yard breaststroke (1:06.24) followed by Albert-Nelson finishing first in the 200 yard butterfly (2:05.79) and
Emily Schoenbrodt winning the 50 yard freestyle (25.54).
Autumn Seebach won the 200 yard backstroke in a time of 2:03.86 while Schoenbrodt was first to finish in the 100 yard butterfly (1:01.35) and Seebach was first to finish the 200 yard IM (2:16.39).
Other top three finishes for the Eagles included
Emily Rundahl (2:00.38) and
Grace Gilleran (2:01.39) finishing second and third respectively in the 200 yard freestyle. Sommer was second (58.22) while
Amanda Richards was third (1:00.47) in the 100 yard backstroke. Then in the 100 yard breaststroke,
Molly Banks was second (1:10.84) while
Grace Radke was second (2:24.38) in the 200 yard butterfly.
Alexis Hoeben was second (25.69) in the 50 yard freestyle.
Next it was Schoenbrodt (55.07)) and Banks (55.46) finishing second and third in the 100 yard freestyle.
JonaLee Feller was second with a time of 2:14.18 in the 200 yard backstroke while
Emma Schneider was third in the 200 yard breaststroke (2:38.03). In the 500 yard freestyle,
Lexi Ashe had a time of 5:26.97 to finish second while
Emma Truman was third (5:27.96). With a time of 1:01.28 in the 100 yard butterfly, Steien finished second and Radke was third (1:01.43). Joining Seebach in the top three finishers in the 200 yard IM was
Emma Siegersma (second, 2:20.62) and
Ella Eck (third, 2:20.76).
The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday, February 4th when they travel to Northfield, MInn. to compete in the Dodd Road Diving Invitational.
