Allan's Two Goals Leads UWL Soccer Past St. Norbert College

Box Score La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin La Crosse Soccer team earned their fourth shutout of the season as they defeated St. Norbert College 4-0 Sunday afternoon at Veteran Memorial Field Sports Complex. The Eagles, ranked 20th on this week's United Soccer Association Top-25 Poll, improve to 7-1 overall while the Green Knights fall to 5-4. 

The Eagles scored two goals in each half on Sunday. Ainsley Allan got the Eagles on the board first in the 11th minute. Ellie Arndt and Claire Cater assisted Allan on the goal. Then just before halftime, Chelsea Gale gave the Eagles a 2-0 lead with her second goal of the season in the 43rd minute. Rachael Janes recorded the assist on Gale's goal.

UWL out shot St. Norbert 19-4 in the opening half including four on goal. 

Allan recorded her second goal of the game and sixth of the season in the 48th minute to give the Eagles a 3-0 lead. Arndt recorded her third assist of the season on Allan's goal. Sophia Goodale finished the scoring for the Eagles as she recorded her first goal of the season in the 81st minute. 

UWL finished the contest with a season high 41 shots. The 41 shots is the most in a game since 2018 when UWL recorded 40 against UW-River Falls. Allan and Ardnt led the Eagles with six shots apiece while Natalie Schisel finished with five. 

The Green Knights were held to just five shots including just one in the second half. Emily Gorzlancyk led St. Norbert with two shots.

McKenna Lloyd earned the win in goal, playing the first half for UWL. Paige Janssen combined on the shutout for the Eagles, finishing with one save in the second half. Lilly Collins suffered the loss for the Green Knights as she allowed two goals in the first half and recorded eight saves. 

The four goals tie a season high for the Eagles as they have now done that in three straight games. 

UWL returns to action on Wednesday night as they host Wartburg College (Iowa) at 6 p.m. The Knights of Wartburg College are ranked sixth in this week's United Soccer Association Top-25 Poll.
