Soccer/Lacrosse Support Building Dedicated

La Crosse, Wis. - The newly constructed Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex Soccer/Lacrosse Support Building was dedicated during an official ceremony Saturday, September 17. The ceremony took place during halftime of the UW-La Crosse's 4-3 soccer victory over Wheaton College (Ill.).

Speakers included UW-La Crosse Chancellor Joe Gow, UW-La Crosse Director of Athletics Kim Blum, UW-La Crosse Head Soccer Coach Jason Murphy, UW-La Crosse Head Lacrosse Coach Cassandra Berger and UW-La Crosse Director of Recreational Sports Jeff Keenan.  
 
The soccer/lacrosse support building, located on the West side of Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex, includes a press box, officials room, team meeting rooms, restrooms, equipment storage, and a first aid/training room.
 
Tours of the complex were available to the public at the conclusion of the soccer game.
 
UWL soccer started playing its home games on the artificial playing surface in 2017 while lacrosse played its first home game in 2020.   

UWL soccer, ranked 20th on this week's United Soccer Coaches NCAA Top-25 Poll, is 4-1 on the season. The Eagles advanced to the 2021 national quarterfinals, their fourth appearance in the NCAA Division III Championships under Murphy.
 
Lacrosse was added a varsity sport at UW-La Crosse with its first year in 2020. Berger has served as the Eagles' head coach each season.
