Bloomington, Ill. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse soccer team, ranked 13th on the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Top-25 Poll, fell 2-1 at Illinois Wesleyan University Sunday afternoon at Neis Field. The Eagles drop to 4-1 on the season while the Titans improve to 2-1-1. 

Illinois Wesleyan got on the board first with Lauren Shanks scoring at 6:22 with an assist by Maya Basan. UWL quickly responded with the tying goal at 8:09 as Ainsley Allan recorded her third goal of the season. Claire Cater registered the assist. 

The Titans scored the eventual game-winning goal at 32:09 by Tegan Timerman with Liza Matimore recording the assist. 

UWL had nine shots in the first half while Illinois Wesleyan totaled eight. The Eagles had all five corner kicks in the opening 45:00. 

The Eagles had 12 shots in the second half to finish with 21 for the game with nine goal. Ellie Arndt finished with four shots, including three on goal. Maggie Hernandez and Ellie Behnke each had three shots with one goal. Jenna Nichols, Isabel Batley, Chelsea Gale and Natalie Schisel each had two shots. 

Illinois Wesleyan totaled 16 shots with 12 on goal. Shanks had a team-leading six shots (four on goal). Matimore and Caelyn Steffens each had three shots with all three on goal. 

UWL had 13 corner kicks while Illinois Wesleyan had one. 

McKenna Lloyd recorded 10 saves for UWL while Kayla Borg finished with eight for Illinois Wesleyan. 

UWL returns to action Saturday, September 17 hosting Wheaton College (Ill.) at 4 p.m.
