Box Score Bloomington, Ill. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse soccer team, ranked 13th on the United Soccer Coaches Top-25 Preseason Poll, earned a 3-2 win over Dominican University (Ill.) Saturday at Illinois Wesleyan University. The Eagles improve to 4-0 on the season while the Stars drop to 1-1-2.
UWL took a 1-0 lead at 5:53 with
Claire Cater scoring unassisted. The Eagles made it 2-0 at 15:45 with
Ainsley Allan scoring off a
Chelsea Gale assist. UWL maintained its 2-0 lead at halftime.
The Eagles totaled seven shots in the first half while the Stars finished with four. UWL had both corner kicks in the opening half.
Dominican (Ill.) got on the board at 65:27 with Mia Tauilahu cutting the lead to 2-1 on a Sierra Rioux assist. UWL regained its two-goal lead after
Natalie Schisel scored at 71:49 with a
Hayley Slaski assist. The Stars made it 3-2 at 86:43 off a Natalia Lopez assist, but the Eagles held on for the win.
UWL finished with 22 shots in the game, including 12 on goal. Allan had a team-high four shots (three on goal) while Cater finished with three shots (one on goal). Schisel,

Ellie Behnke,
Maggie Hernandez and
Rachael Janes each had two shots. Schisel recorded both of her shots on goal.
The Eagles had 15 shots in the second half. UWL totaled six corner kicks in the game.
Dominican (Ill.) totaled 12 shots with eight on goal. Coxon led the Stars with four shots, including two on goal. Dominican (Ill.) had eight shots in the second half and finished with nine corner kicks.
McKenna Lloyd earned the win for UWL, recording five saves. Ashley Ishman had nine saves for Dominican (Ill.).
UWL returns to action Sunday, September 11 at Illinois Wesleyan University at noon.
