Eau Claire, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's and men's swimming & diving teams opened its Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) season with a dual at UW-Eau Claire Saturday at McPhee Physical Education Center Pool.
The women's team fell, 153.5 to 146.5, while the men's team dropped the dual, 215.0 to 85.0.

In the women's dual, UWL won six individual events.
Maddy Albert-Nelson won a pair of titles, taking the 100 (1:00.55) and 200 (2:14.97) butterfly.
Claire Vandenhouten won the 1,000 freestyle (11:16.32),
Jordy Hahlen the 100 backstroke (1:00.34),
Autumn Seebach the 200 backstroke (2:12.66) and
Lauren Steien the 400 I.M. (4:48.88).
Vandenhouten was also third (5:31.79) in the 500 freestyle while Hahlen finished second (2:14.92) in the 200 backstroke. Seebach placed second (2:01.46) in the 200 freestyle and third (4:54.57) in the 400 I.M. with Steien finishing second in the 100 (1:08.60) and 200 (2:32.35) breaststroke.
The Eagles'
Alexis Hoeben,
Kylee Sommer and Mackenzie Wallace each recorded a pair of top-three finishes. Hoeben was second (25.69) in the 50 freestyle and third (57.28) in the 100 freestyle, Sommer finished second (1:01.40) in the 100 backstroke and third (2:15.34) backstroke while Wallace finished third in the 100 (1:11.49) and 200 (2:36.20) breaststroke.
Other top-three finishes included Maddie Richter second (5:31.72) in the 500 freestyle while Paige Rundahl placed third in the 50 freestyle (25.99) and
Abi Schauske third in the 200 butterfly (2:24.33).
In diving, Joanne Banaszak was second (240.00 points) in the one-meter and Hannah Martini placed second (243.95) in the three-meter.
UWL had a pair of relays place second. Hahlen, Steien, Albert-Nelson and
Molly Banks in the 400 medley relay (4:04.72) while Sommer, Banks, Rundahl and
Lindsey Evenson were second in the 200 freestyle relay (1:42.32).
For the men,
Nicholas Litterer won a pair of titles, taking the 100 freestyle (48.73) and 100 backstroke (54.86).

UWL had four second-place showings, including
Blake Nelson in the 50 freestyle (22.43), Jonah Elfers in the 100 backstroke (55.79), Mitch Johnson in the 100 breaststroke (1:00.18) and
Ming Ong in the 200 butterfly (2:03.21).
Caleb Jondle had three third-place finishes on Saturday, including the 200 butterfly (2:05.45), 400 I.M. (4:33.04) and 500 freestyle (5:10.08). Jonah Ryf was third in the 100 butterfly (54.37),
Brevin Kruse third in the 200 backstroke (2:06.35) and
Andrew Perrin third in the 1,000 freestyle (10:32.01).
The Eagles' 200 freestyle relay of Nelson,
Connor Cleveland, Litterer and
Will Quackenbush was second (1:28.40) while the 400 medley relay of Litterer, Johnson, Elfers and Quackenbush was also second (3:35.39).
UWL returns to action Friday, November 11 hosting Luther College (Iowa) at 5 p.m.
