Decorah, Iowa - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's swimming & diving team placed second at the two-day Luther College (Iowa) Invitational Saturday. The Eagles finished with 535 team points while Saint Ambrose University (Iowa) took the team title with 1,318 points. A total of five teams competed.
In Friday's action,
Nicholas Litterer recorded three top-six finishes, including third in the 100 I.M. (54.74), fourth in the 100 freestyle (47.62) and sixth (2:01.76) in the 200 I.M.
In the three-meter diving competition,
Evan Zimdars finished second (338.15 points),
Tyler Herder third (368.20),
Tony McNiff fourth (365.40),
Vance Winter fifth (362.00) and
Joey Marchiando seventh (317.55).
Jacob Brehmer was seventh (2:26.02) in the 200 breaststroke.
In the relays,
Matthew Geils,
Jacob Jensen,
Will Jager and Litterer placed third (7:51.04) in the 800 freestyle relay with Jensen, Jager, Brehmer and Litterer fourth (3:55.62) in the 400 medley relay.
In Saturday's action, McNiff placed second (429.30) in the one-meter diving with Winter third (420.20), Herder fourth (406.65), Zimdars fifth (396.00) and Marchiando seventh (366.95).
Jonah Elfers placed fourth (53.06) in the 100 butterfly while
Will Quackenbush was fifth (1:49.07) in the 200 freestyle.
Ming Ong was sixth (2:00.20) in the 200 backstroke and
Caleb Jondle sixth (4:32.70) in the 400 I.M.
Blake Nelson was seventh (22.22) and Quackenbush eighth (22.32) in the 50 freestyle.
UWL's 200 medley relay of Ong, Quackenbush, Elfers and Nelson placed fourth (1:39.59) while Nelson, Elfers,
Connor Cleveland and Quackenbush were fourth (3:19.12) in the 400 freestyle relay.
UWL returns to action Friday, December 2 at the Rochester (Minn.) Invitational.
