Waverly, Iowa - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's basketball team captured the Wartburg College (Iowa) Buzz Levick Tournament title with a 87-76 win over the host Knights Saturday night. The Eagles, ranked 15th on D3hoops.com, improve to 5-0 on the season while the Knights drop to 2-2.

Austin Westra led Eagles with 20 points and was named tournament MVP.
Will Fuhrmann hit his first three-pointer to give the Eagles the early 3-0 lead. UWL took a 9-6 lead with 16:45 on the clock but Wartburg (Iowa) scored seven of the next 11 points to tie the game at 13-13 with 14:50 remaining. With UWL leading 25-20, the Eagles went on a 15-5 run to take their largest lead of the half at 40-25 with 2:50 left in the first half.
Ethan Anderson scored 11 of the Eagles' 15 points to spark the run.
UWL led 45-30 at intermission as Anderson scored 15 of his 19 points in the opening half.Â
The Eagles opened the second half with a 9-3 run to take a 54-33 lead. They extended the lead to its largest margin at 66-44 with 13:17 remaining. Trailing 72-52, Wartburg (Iowa) went on a 12-1 run to cut the deficit to 73-64 with 5:05 left. Anderson hit a layup with 2:47 left to give UWL a 79-67 lead. Jack Molstead hit a three-pointer to pull Wartburg (Iowa) within eight but that would be as close as the Knights would get. The Eagles hit six of eight free throws over final 1:07 to seal the win.Â
UWL finished the contest shooting 30-for-60 (50.0%) from the floor, including eight-of-20 (40.0%) from behind the three-point line. The Eagles shot 73.1% (19-of-20) at the free throw line.
Austin Westra led the Eagles with 20 points while Anderson finished with 19 and Fuhrmann added 13. Westra added seven rebounds and four assists. Fuhrmann finished with six rebounds.
Westra was named tournament MVP while Anderson was honored as a member of the all-tournament team.Â
Wartburg (Iowa) shot 25-for-55 (45.5%) from the floor and seven-of-22 (31.8%) from the three-point line. The Knights shot 70.4% (19-of-27) at the line. Molstead led the Knights with 23 points while Keagan John chipped in 22. Marshun Williams finished with 14 points and led the Knights with nine rebounds as Wartburg (Iowa) had a 36-33 advantage in rebounding.Â
UWL returns to action Tuesday, November 22 hosting Ripon College (Wis.) at 7 p.m.
