La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's swimming & diving team earned a 153-137 dual victory over UW-Whitewater Saturday in Richard L. Pein Natatorium. The Eagles improve to 2-1 in duals this season, including 1-1 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC).
UWL won seven events on Saturday, including
Tony McNiff and
Ming Ong each capturing two titles. McNiff swept the one (283.90 points) and three-meter (292.20) diving competition while Ong took the 100 (56.06) and 200 (2:00.94) backstroke.
Blake Nelson won the 50 freestyle (21.91) and Caleb Jondle the 200 butterfly (2:05.57).
The Eagles swept the relays with
Nicholas Litterer, Mitch Johnson, Jonah Elfers and Nelson winning the 200 medley relay (1:36.62) and Nelson, Cleveland, Litterer and
Will Quackenbush taking the 400 freestyle relay (3:12.07).
In diving,
Vance Winter was second in the one (260.30) and three-meter (277.45) with Tyler Herder finishing third in the one (256.40) and three-meter (249.20). Jake Jensen was second in the 100 backstroke (56.61) and 400 I.M. (4:48.07).
Litterer was second (1:48.40) and
Andrew Perrin third (1:50.69) in the 200 freestyle. Perrin was also second (5:03.38) in the 500 freestyle.
Mickey Keating placed third in the 50 (22.45) and 100 (50.36) freestyle. Quackenbush was second (48.85) in the 100 freestyle.
Jonathan Pella placed second in the 1,000 freestyle (11:07.69) with
Will Jager second (1:04.09) and
Connor Cleveland third (1:05.07) in the 100 breaststroke. Cleveland was also third (55.57) in the 100 butterfly. The Eagles'
Blake Harre finished third (2:24.75) in the 200 breaststroke.
