Brown Deer, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's swimming & diving team competed at the All-Wisconsin Showcase Saturday at Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center. No team scores were recorded. Along with UWL, the meet featured the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, UW-Green Bay, Carthage College (Wis.), St. Norbert College (Wis.), UW-Oshkosh and UW-Whitewater.
UWL's
Mitchell Johnson recorded a pair of top-four finishes on Saturday, including second (59.41) in the 100 breaststroke and fourth (2:17.35) in the 200 breaststroke. He was also 11th (5:08.40) in the 500 freestyle.
Nicholas Litterer finished third (47.98) in the 100 freestyle while
Blake Nelson placed seventh (22.60) in the 50 freestyle and
Caleb Jondle eighth (4:33.78) in the 400 I.M.
Jacob Brehmer was 12th (4:40.36) in the 400 I.M. while
Jesse Hammes finished 13th (22.48),
Mickey Keating 14th (22.51) and
Connor Cleveland 16th (22.65) in the 50 freestyle.
Brevin Kruse finished 10th (55.70) in the 100 backstroke.
In Saturday's diving,
Vance Winter was fifth (216.38 points) in the one-meter and seventh (191.80) in the three-meter while
Tony McNiff finished fifth (237.38) in the three-meter and sixth (212.10) in the one-meter.
Both of UWL's relays placed third on Saturday. Cleveland, Litterer, Nelson and
Will Quackenbush were third (3:12.25) in the 400 freestyle relay while Litterer, Johnson, Jondle and Nelson finished third (1:36.87) in the 200 medley relay.
UWL returns to action with its divers on Saturday, October 29 at the Cows, Colleges, and Contentment Classic in Northfield, Minnesota. Members of the swimming team will return to action Saturday, November 5 at UW-Eau Claire.
