Box Score La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse soccer team extended its win streak to eight games as they defeated UW-Oshkosh 3-0 Saturday night at Veterans Memorial Sports Complex. UWL, ranked 15th on the United Soccer Coaches Top-25 Poll, remains undefeated (5-0) in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play and 15-1-1 on the year. UW-Oshkosh falls to 4-7-5 overall and 0-3-3 in WIAC action.
Ainsley Allan recorded two goals and an assist in win.
UWL got on the scoreboard first in the 20th minute as
Ainsley Allan scored her tenth goal of the season.
Claire Cater assisted Allan on the goal with a perfect corner kick. It was Cater's seventh assist on the year. Just three minutes later, these two connected again although the roles reversed this time. Cater scored her seventh goal of the season on an assist from Allan in the 23rd minute.
The score remained 2-0 at the half as UWL out shot UWO 16-3 in the first half. Allan and
Maggie Hernandez led the Eagles with 3 shots each.
In the second half, Allan gave the Eagles a 3-0 lead in the 60th minute for her second goal of the game.
Chelsea Gale and Cater assisted Allan on the goal.
That would be all the scoring the Eagles would need as they out shot the Titans 30-7. Allan and Hernandez each finished with four shots while Cater,
Alexis McMahon and
Isabel Batley each add three.
Sophia Anger played all 90 minutes in goal and earned the shutout by stopping the one shot she faced. Mallory Kerhin suffered the loss in goal for the Titans as she finished with ten saves.
UWL returns to action October 26 when they travel to UW-Platteville for a 7:00 pm start.
