La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and Dominican University (Ill.) soccer teams played to a 1-1 double overtime tie Saturday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex. The Eagles move to 2-1-1 on the season while the Stars are now 1-1-1.
After playing to a 0-0 first half score, UWL got on the board first with a goal in the 52
nd minute.
Sydney Halstead scored the goal on an assist from
Camryn Hart. The goal was Halstead's second of the season while it was Hart's third assist of the year.
Dominican would score the equalizer in the 80
th minute on a goal by Hannah Anderson and an assist from Regan Coxon.
The first half-featured minimal scoring opportunities as Dominican had four while UWL finished with three. In the second half, the Eagles outshot the Stars 10-5. Both teams finished with four shots in overtime but were unsuccessful.
The Eagles finished the game with 17 shots including eight on goal. Rachel Janes led the Eagles with four shots including three on goal. Dominican totaled 13 shots with five of them on goal. Coxon led the Stars with five shots including two on goal.
Quinn Shannon made the start in goal for the Eagles and finished with four saves in the contest. Ashley Ishman stopped seven shots for the Stars.
UWL finished with seven corner kicks while Dominican had five. Dominican was whistled for 10 fouls while UWL recorded seven.
UWL will be back in action on Sunday when they host Illinois Wesleyan University at 1 p.m.
