Onalaska (H.S.) of the wrestling team was voted to the All-District Men's At-Large Team.
Ellie Szczupakiewicz
Szczupakiewicz, Vian and Mortenson are three of 14 selections to the All-District Women's At-Large Team while Ernst is one of 11 student-athletes named to the All-District Men's At-Large Team. All four student-athletes advance to the Academic All-America® Team ballot. The Academic All-District® At-Large Teams include NCAA Division III student-athletes from Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin. The at-large team includes the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming & diving, tennis, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.
A psychology and political science major with a 3.95 grade point average, Szczupakiewicz is a three-time member of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Scholastic Honor Roll. She won five titles at the WIAC Championships, including the 100-yard butterfly in 2019 and 2020. Szczupakiewicz was a member of three WIAC winning relays, capturing the 800-yard freestyle relay in 2018 and 2020 and 400-yard medley relay in 2020. She placed second in the 200 butterfly in 2018 and third in 2020.
Sydney Vian
Vian is a psychology major with a 3.97 grade point average. Named the 2020-21 WIAC Judy Kruckman Women's Swimming & Diving Scholar-Athlete, Vian was also selected to the 2020-21 All-WIAC Sportsmanship Team. She secured a spot on the 2019-20 College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America Honorable Mention Team. Vian is a three-time member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll. A two-year team captain, Vian is a three-time WIAC champion, winning the three-meter diving competition in 2019 and 2020, as well as the one-meter event in 2020. She was recognized as the Diver of the Meet at the 2020 WIAC championship. Vian was a NCAA Zones qualifier in both diving events in 2019 and 2020.
Kacey Mortenson
Majoring in biology with a 3.91 grade point average, Mortenson was named the 2021 WIAC Gymnast of the Year. She earned All-WIAC honors in the all-around, vault, uneven parallel bars and balance beam. Mortenson averaged 37.570 in the all-around this season, winning the title in all four of UWL's duals. Mortenson had a career-high score of 37.950 in the all-around versus UW-Whitewater on March 23. She was also second on the uneven parallel bars (season-high 9.575) against the Warhawks. Mortenson took the all-around title vs. UW-Oshkosh (37.050) on February 27, against Winona State University, Minn. (37.675) on March 12 and versus Hamline University, Minn. (37.600) on April 1. A member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll, Mortenson won the balance beam at the 2020 league championships. She was a two-time WIC All-Around Athlete of the Week in 2021.
Ernst is a physical education major with a 3.78 grade point average. He was named the 2021 WIAC Max Sparger Wrestling Scholar-Athlete Award. Ernst is a three-time member of the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) NCAA Division III All-America Scholar Team and the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll. A team captain, Ernst is a three-time WIAC champion at 285-pounds, claiming titles in 2018, 2019 and 2021. He is a two-time All-America after placing seventh at the NCAA Division III Championship in 2019 and sixth in 2018. In 2019, Ernst received the Outstanding Wrestler Award at the NCAA Division III Upper Midwest Regional and was selected UW-La Crosse's Outstanding Wrestler. He accumulated a career record of 90-20.
Konrad Ernst
The 2020-21 Academic All-District® Women's At-Large Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot.
First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early August. The CoSIDA Academic All-District® teams are divided into geographic districts across the United States and Canada.
The Division II and III CoSIDA Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2020-21 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CoSIDA Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.
