Menomonie, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's swimming & diving team dropped a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) dual to UW-Eau Claire Saturday, 172-86, at Menomonie High School.
Adam Baryenbruch
The Eagles won four individual events, including a pair from
Adam Baryenbruch in the 100 (55.54) and 200 (2:03.89) breaststroke. He set UWL records in both events Saturday, including breaking Matt Diehl's record of 56.21 in the 100 breaststroke set in 2010. Baryenbruch broke his own school record in the 200 breaststroke of 2:04.29 set in 2019.
UWL's Nick Litterer won the 100 freestyle (48.54) Saturday while
Will Quackenbush captured the 200 freestyle (1:46.26) and
Ming Ong the 100 butterfly (53.31). Litterer was also second in the 100 backstroke (55.03) for the Eagles with Quackenbush finishing second in the 100 freestyle (48.74) and third in the 200 I.M. (2:01.85). Along with his victory in the 100 butterfly Saturday, Ong placed second in the 200 butterfly (1:58.62).
Jacob Brehmer placed third (2:08.42) in the backstroke.
UWL's 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays both finished second Saturday. Litterer, Baryenbruch, Ong and Quackenbush were second in the 200 medley relay (1:36.25) while Litterer, Ong,
Mickey Keating and
AJ Von Berge were second in the 200 freestyle relay (1:29.00).
UWL returns to action Saturday, February 27 at UW-Stevens Point.
