La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's swimming & diving team opened its 2021-22 home schedule with a 164.5-135.5 loss to UW-Eau Claire Saturday afternoon in the Richard L. Pein Natatorium. It was the Eagles' first home meet since February 1, 2020, a span of 664 days.
UWL won six individual events on Saturday, including
Autumn Seebach and
Maddy Albert-Nelson who both won two titles. Seebach won the 100 (59.47) and 200 (2:11.65) backstroke while Albert-Nelson captured the 100 (1:00.60) and 200 (2:13.08) butterfly. Albert-Nelson also placed fourth in the 200 backstroke (2:18.54).
Sydney Guenther took the 200 freestyle (2:03.46) and
Lauren Steien the 400 I.M. (4:59.32). Steien was also second in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.14) and 100 butterfly (1:03.45).
Jordy Hahlen was second in the 100 (59.71) and 200 (2:14.07) backstroke on Saturday for UWL while
Claire Vandenhouten placed second in the 1,000 freestyle (11:21.31) and third in the 500 freestyle (5:33.86).
Aubrey Lonergan was second (55.45) and
Amanda Richards fourth (56.57) in the 100 freestyle.
Abi Schauske recorded a pair of top-four finishes, placing second in the 200 butterfly (2:22.09) and fourth in the 400 I.M. (5:03.47).
The Eagles
Kathleen Casella was fourth in the 200 freestyle (2:06.28),
Kylee Sommer fourth in the 100 backstroke (1:03.37),
Raquel Salinas fourth in the 100 breaststroke (1:12.67),
Alexis Hoeben fourth in the 50 freestyle (25.69) and
Isabelle Buhler fourth in the 200 breaststroke (2:42.72).
Brooke Presny tied for fourth in the 100 butterfly (1:03.94).
In diving,
Erika Hysalliu placed third in the one-meter competition (216.00 points) with
Lauren Feder fourth in the three-meter (161.75).
UWL's Seebach, Steien, Albert-Nelson and Lonergan won the 400 medley relay (4:03.59) while Hoeben, Seebach,
Lindsey Evenson and Richards were second in the 400 freestyle relay (3:48.19).
