Box Score Oshkosh, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse soccer team fell, 2-1, at UW-Oshkosh Saturday night in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championship (presented by Culver's) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium. The Eagles drop to 14-4-2 on the season while the Titans improve to 16-2-1.
With the win, UW-Oshkosh earns the WIAC's automatic bid to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Championships. UWL will await word if it has an earned at-large bid to the national championships. The field will be announced Monday, November 8 at 1 p.m.
UW-Oshkosh took a 1-0 lead at 20:14 with Mackenzie Stein scoring an unassisted goal. UWL quickly tied the game at 1-1 at 23:08 with
Ellie Arndt scoring off assists from
Sophie Amundson and
Alexis McMahon. The Titans regained the lead at 31:16 as Mackenzie Bennett scored unassisted to make it 2-1.
UWL totaled 14 shots in the first half while UW-Oshkosh finished with four. The Eagles had all seven corner kicks in the first 45:00.
The Eagles had eight shots in the second half, but couldn't get the game-tying goal. UWL totaled 22 hots overall with eight on goal.
Ellie Behnke had a team-high five shots while Arndt had four. Amundson and
Ainsley Allan each had three shots with Arndt and Amundson each finishing with three shots on goal.
UWL had 15 corner kicks in the game while UW-Oshkosh finished with one.
The Titans finished with eight shots with three on goal. Stein had three shots, including two on goal.
Quinn Shannon recorded one save for UWL while Erin Toomey finished with seven for UW-Oshkosh.
