Box Score Wheaton, Ill. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse soccer team, receiving votes on this week's United Soccer Coaches Top-25 Poll, finished in a 1-1 double overtime tie at Wheaton College (Ill.) Wednesday night at Joe Bean Stadium. The Eagles are now 10-2-2 on the season while the Thunder are 6-5-2.
Wheaton (Ill.) leads the all-time series, 2-1-1, with UWL.
Wheaton (Ill.) took a 1-0 lead at 7:50 on Mia Blair's goal from a Sara Bakke assist. The Thunder maintained their 1-0 lead at halftime, outshooting the Eagles, 6-3. Each team had two corner kicks in the first 45:00.
UWL tied the game at 1-1 at 62:18 with
Natalie Schisel scoring off a
Sophie Amundson assist. The Eagles had three shots in the final 10:00 of regulation, including two from Amundson and one from
Maggie Hernandez.
Wheaton (Ill.) recorded the only shot in the first overtime, coming from Grace Hermanson. Each team had a shot in the second overtime with the Thunder's Lauren Ketchum and Eagles'
Quinn Shannon both registering a save.
UWL finished with 15 shots in the game with nine on goal. Amundson finished with five shots (three on goal) while Schisel and
Ellie Behnke each had two shots on goal. The Eagles had the only two corner kicks in the second half. Wheaton (Ill.) totaled 12 shots, including seven on goal. Audrey Sexson and Izzy McNally each finished with two shots on goal.
Shannon recorded six saves for UWL while Ketchum finished with eight for Wheaton (Ill.).
UWL returns to action Saturday, October 16 at UW-Stout at 2 p.m.
