WIAC Fall Statement On COVID-19

Questions & Answers Regarding WIAC Statement on COVID-19

Following a very deliberative process to allow for full consideration of the most up-to-date information pertaining to COVID-19, the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) has announced updates to the fall sports season.
 
Conference seasons and championships in the sports of football, women's soccer, women's volleyball and men's and women's cross country are to be canceled for the 2020-21 academic year.  Institutions will retain the autonomy to establish practice opportunities within the limitations stipulated by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) throughout the 2020-21 academic year.  Logo
 
All competition in the sports of women's tennis and women's golf will be suspended for the 2020-21 fall term.  The WIAC seasons and championships in the sports of women's tennis and women's golf will be moved to the 2020-21 spring term.  Institutions will retain the autonomy to establish practice opportunities within the limitations stipulated by the NCAA during the fall term.  
 
Determinations with regards to the winter sports season, including the start date and the manner in which competition will be conducted, will be determined at a later date.
 
Any practice opportunities or competitions must be conducted in accordance with NCAA resocialization guidelines in effect at that time, in addition to any mandated restrictions imposed by local, county or campus entities.

UW-La Crosse offers 21 varsity programs with over 600 student-athletes.  UWL has won 71 national championships in school history, including 43 in NCAA Division III.  The 43 national titles ranks second in NCAA III history.  The Eagles have captured 37 national titles since 2001.  UWL has won 415 conference titles in school history.
