Box Score La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin La Crosse soccer team earned a 2-1 double overtime victory over St. Catherine University (Minn.) Wednesday night at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex. The Eagles improve to 4-2 on the season while the Wildcats drop to 2-2.

UWL outshot St. Catherine (Minn.), 9-6, in a scoreless first half. In the second half the Eagles found the back of the net at 47:40 when Sophie Amundson scored her sixth goal of the season for a 1-0 lead. The goal was assisted by Cassidy Rothwell.
The Wildcats answered back when Amora Valencia notched a goal at 64:03 to tie the game at 1-1. Sofia Campbell and Amanda Elton assisted the goal. It was Valencia's second goal of the season. UWL outshot St. Catherine (Minn.) in the second half, 8-5, as the teams headed to overtime.
Kaitlyn Villars
UWL finished with one shot in the first overtime while St. Catherine (Minn.) totaled two.
Both teams had two shots in the second overtime with Kaitlyn Villars scoring the game-winner at 109:26, assisted by Amundson. It was Villars' fourth goal of the year, including second game-winner. She was named the WIAC Kwik Trip Offense Player of the Week Tuesday.
UWL's Quinn Shannon earned the win in net, finishing with three saves. St. Catherine's (Minn.) Tayler Koop took the loss, recording 10 saves.
Villars finished with five shots (four on goal) while Amundson had four shots (two on goal). Elle Leider added four shots (three on goal). Campbell and Elton each had five shots with Elton recording two on goal.
UWL returns to action Saturday, September 14 at sixth-ranked Wheaton College (Illinois) at 6 p.m.
