Eau Claire, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's and men's swimming & diving teams opened WIAC competition with a dual versus UW-Eau Claire Saturday.The women's squad earned a 178-122 victory while the men's teams tied with a score of 147.
On the men's side Nick Litterer, Marley Kaiser, Hans Hover and, Jack Rohlinger took first in the 200 medley relay (1:35.19). While Brevin Kruse, Adam Baryenbruch, Kipp Dietrich and, AJ Von Berge took third (1:39.72). The men also took first (1:28.36) in the 200 freestyle relay with Litterer, Von Berge, Rohlinger and Wicklander. Gavin Wicklander would win the 1000 freestyle (10;27.62) while Trevor Anderson placed fourth (10:44.98).Â
The men would place in the top three for many of the races Saturday. Andrew Groth took first in the 500 freestyle (4.58.66) while Wicklander took third (5:01.41). Marley Kaiser finished second in the 200 I.M. he also won the 100 breaststroke (59.83). Adam Baryenbruch placed first (2:15.44) in the 200 breaststroke. Baryenbruch would come in second in the 100 breaststroke (1:00.44). Hans Hover would take first (51.23) in the 100 butterfly, 100 backstroke (52.35) and 200 backstroke (1:56.96). Brevin Kruse would finish second (2:01.79) in the 200 backstroke .Â
In the 100 freestyle the men finished three in the top-five. Litterer (48.50), Von Berge (50.28) and Kaiser (50.35) would take second, third and fifth respectively. While Jack Rohlinger would take second in the 200 freestyle (1:48.64) and the 50 freestyle (22.17).Â
