Box Score Platteville, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse soccer team improved to 9-4-2 overall and 2-0-1 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) with a 2-0 victory at UW-Platteville Wednesday night at Pioneer Stadium.  The Pioneers drop to 1-11-2 overall and 0-2-1 in the conference.

UWL, 5-0-1 in its last six games, recorded its fifth straight shutout Wednesday.  The Eagles have not allowed a goal in 496 minutes. UWL last allowed a goal in a 2-1 double overtime victory over Carleton College (Minn.) September 25.

Kaitlyn Villars gave UWL a 1-0 lead at 4:54 on Wednesday, her eighth goal of the season team-high sixth game-winning goals. Villars is tied with Sophie Amundson for the team lead with eight goals.  Sydney Halstead recorded the assist.  The Eagles took a 2-0 lead at 35:42 on Natalie Schisel's second goal of year.  Maddy Fennessy had the assist. 

UWL totaled 14 shots in the first half while holding UW-Platteville to zero.  Each team finished with four shots in the second half.  The Eagles had all eight corner kicks in the game. 

UWL finished with 18 shots overall, including 12 on goal.  Villars had five shots with four on goal while Schisel recorded three shots with all three on goal. Amundson had two shots on goal. 

UW-Platteville had four shots, three on goal. Taylor Martin had two shots (both on goal) for the Pioneers while Hailee Sanford finished with two shots (one on goal).

Quinn Shannon (45:00), Lily Brock (37:08) and Lauren Freeck (7:52) combined on the shutout for UWL with Brock recording three saves. Mariah Kennedy finished with nine saves for UW-Platteville.

UWL returns to action Saturday, October 19 hosting UW-River Falls at 2 p.m.
