Whitewater, Wis.-The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse volleyball split a pair of matches Saturday at the UW-Whitewater Classic. The Eagles took match one 3-2 (26-24,13-25,25-18,16-25, 15-9) against Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.). UWL then fell to Millikin University (Ill.) 0-3 (16-25,18-25,23-25). UWL is now 10-11 on the season.
In the five-set win against Gustavus Adolphus (Minn.), Liz Lansink had a team-high 14 kills, while Anna Rossner had 12 and Emma Lawrence finished with 11. Lansink also added a team-high eight blocks while Lawrence and Rossner picked up three blocks each. Abbey Fox led the match with 44 assists while adding 17 digs and one ace. Sophie Quelle also had 17 digs while adding an ace. Courtney Conway picked up 14 digs and three assists for the Eagles.

Kate Holtan led with 22 kills for Gustavus Adolphus (Minn.) and Rhyan Herrmann had 15. Hailey Embacher recorded 31 digs while Holtan added 21. Mitaya Johnson finished with 26 assists and Kaylyn Johnston 23.
UWL hit .133 (56-31-188) recording 11.0 blocks. Gustavus Adolphus (Minn.) hit .189 (57-23-180) while having 8.0 team blocks.
In the loss against Millikin (Ill.), Lawrence led UWL with eight kills. Caitlin Griffin finished with four while Fox had three. Fox also had a team-high 11 assists and picked up eight digs. Quelle led with nine digs while also adding four assists.
Jessi Kreder led Millikin (Ill.) with 10 kills while Lauren Brummel added nine and Marie Gerbasi eight. Rose Syversen had a team-high 35 assists and Julianna Vassallo added 20 digs.
UWL hit .101 (23-14-89) while picking up 4.0 team blocks. Millikin (Ill.) hit .196 (43-22-107) and had 9.0 team blocks.
Fox was one of six players named to the all-tournament.
UWL returns to action Friday, October 18 at UW-Platteville at 7 p.m.
