La Crosse, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's and men's swimming & diving teams continued its winning ways Saturday as they both defeated the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in the Richard L. Pein Natatorium. The women's squad earned a 141-96 victory while the men's team won 122.5-118.5.
It mark's UWL's first dual win over UW-Stevens Point since a 140.0-103.0 victory on January 27, 2007.
On the women's side,
Sydney Vian won the one-meter diving (241.20 points) while
Elizabeth Konkel took first in the three-meter diving (241.25).
The relay team of
Lilly Larsen,
Maria Vaudreuil, Sammy Seymour and
Emily Boettger won the 400-yard medley relay in a time of 4:03.25.
Individually,
Jaime Kloehn won the 200 yard freestyle in a time of 2:02.01.
Aubrey Lonergan took first in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 25.58.
Maddie Volk won the 200 I.M. in a time of 2:18.07.
Ellie Sczupakiewicz won the 200 yard butterfly in 2:16.11 while
Amanda Wciorka took first in the 100 yard freestyle a time of 55.31 and Larsen came in first in the 200 yard backstroke (2:15.36).
On the men's side,
Kyle Wolmutt swept the one (312.35 points) and three-meter diving (271.10) titles.
Individually, the relay team of
Alec Carlson,
Marley Kaiser,
Hans Hover and Jake Burchfield took first in the 400 yard medley relay (3:28.87).
In a time of 1:44.98,
Jack Rohlinger won the 200 yard freestyle.
With a pool record time of 20.40, Burchfield won the 50 yard freestyle. He broke the record of 20.53 held by
Ryan Jessen of UWL and Joe Klapp of UW-Stevens Point.
Rohlinger won his second event of the day taking the 100 yard freestyle in a time of 47.66.
Another pool record was broken as
Hans Hover finished the 200 yard backstroke in a time of 1:51.45. He broke the record of 1:51.68 set by Ian Gridley of UW-Stevens Point in 2010.
In a time of 4:52.33,
Charles Hartt won the 500 yard freestyle while
Adam Baryenbruch won the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:10.77. Burchfield, Rohlinger, Carlson and Hover teamed up to break another pool record as they won the 400 yard freestyle relay in a time 3:04.99. UW-Eau Claire's relay team set the record in 1990 in a time of 3:07.16.
UWL returns to action Saturday, February 2 it travels to UW-Whitewater to take on the Warhawks with a start time of 1 p.m.
