La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's and men's swimming & diving teams opened its 2018-19 home season with a dual versus UW-Eau Claire Saturday in the Richard L. Pein Natatorium. The women's squad earned a 140-104 victory while the men's team fell, 129-104.
On the women's side, UWL's
Samantha Lemke swept the one (229.05 points) and three-meter (199.65) diving titles while
Sydney Vian was second (220.40) in the one-meter and third (196.35) in the three-meter.
Elizabeth Konkel placed third in the one-meter (186.00).
UWL swept the 400 medley and 400 freestyle relays with
Sarina Le,
Maria Vaudreuil,
Samantha Seymour and
Jaime Kloehn the 400 medley (4:04.27) while
Amanda Wciorka,
Maddie Volk,
Ellie Szczupakiewicz and Kloehn took the 400 freestyle relay (3:42.03).
Individually, Szczupakiewicz took the 200 freestyle (2:00.20) and 200 butterfly (2:14.73) while Vaudreuil won the 200 I.M. (2:17.70) and 200 breaststroke (2:27.68).
Volk was second in the 200 I.M. (2:19.94) and 100 freestyle (55.56) while Le finished second (2:20.56) and Seymour third (2:21.26) in the 200 butterfly.
Lilly Larsen finished second (2:15.16) and
Hannah Calhoon third (2:17.72) in the 200 backstroke while
Grace Storms placed second (2:34.95) in the 200 breaststroke.
Kloehn was third in the 50 freestyle (25.54) an
Aubrey Lonergan third in the 100 freestyle (56.02).
On the men's side,
Alec Carlson,
Marley Kaiser,
Hans Hover and
Jack Rohlinger won the 400 medley relay (3:32.08) with
Jacob Burchfield,
Charles Hartt, Carlson and
Frederick Grelle second in the 400 freestyle relay (3:14.01).
Burchfield took the 200 I.M. (1:59.49) and 100 freestyle (46.52) while Hartt captured the 500 (4:59.90) and 1,000 (10:23.35) freestyles. Rohlinger won the 200 freestyle (1:47.92) and placed third in the 200 butterfly (2:02.92) while Hover captured the 200 backstroke (1:58.40).
Carlson was second in the 50 freestyle (22.17) while Kaiser placed second in the 200 breaststroke (2:18.40) and
Sergio Solis second in the 200 backstroke (2:03.00).
