Decorah, Iowa - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's swimming & diving team placed second while the men's squad finished third Saturday at the Luther College (Iowa) Invitational. The women finished with 765.0 points while Luther (Iowa) took the team title with 767.0. St. Ambrose University (Iowa) was third (636), Iowa Lakes Community College fourth (344) and Saint Mary's University (Minn.) fifth (223.0).
UWL's men's squad finished with 639.5 points with St. Ambrose University (Iowa) first with 895.0 and Luther (Iowa) second with 665.0. Iowa Lakes was fourth (254) and Saint Mary's (Minn.) fifth (180.0).
On the women's side, UWL won the 200 medley relay (1:52.52) with
Maddie Volk,
Maria Vaudreuil,
Samantha Seymour and
Jaime Kloehn while also winning the 400 freestyle relay (3:46.20) with
Amanda Wciorka, Volk,
Aubrey Lonergan and Kloen. The Eagles were second in the 800 freestyle relay (3:37.07) with Wciorka,
Ellie Szczupakiewicz, Lonergan and Kloehn.
Individually,
Alyssa George won the 200 butterfly (2:34.25). Seymour placed second in the 100 breaststroke (1:13.98) while
Emily Boettger was second (2:09.87) and
Kira Pauls third (2:10.13) in the 200 freestyle. Wciorka was third in the 100 butterfly (1:03.27),
Madalyn Peterson third in the 100 backstroke (1:03.45),
Lilly Larsen third in the 200 backstroke (2:19.66) and Szczupakiewicz third in the 1,650 freestyle (19:18.22).
Sydney Vian was second in the one (217.25 points) and three (236.60) meter diving competition.
Samantha Lemke placed third (212.55) in the one-meter and Lizzie Konkel third (209.45) in the three-meter.
On the men's side, UWL won the 200 medley relay as well as the 400 and 800 freestyle relays.
Alec Carlson,
Marley Kaiser,
Hans Hover and
Jacob Burchfield took the 200 medley relay (1:32.64) while Burchfield, Hover,
Charles Hartt and Carlson won the 400 freestyle relay (3:13.05). The 200 medley relay set a pool record, breaking the record of 1:33.49 set by Nebraska Wesleyan University in 2018. Burchfield, Hover,
Colin Brady and Hartt won the 800 freestyle relay (7:15.61) Saturday.
Individually,
Kyle Wolmutt won the one (253.10 points) and three-meter (248.10 points) diving titles.
Burchfield won the 100 butterfly (51.61) and placed second in the 100 breaststroke (58.31) and 100 backstroke (54.61). Hover captured the 100 backstroke (51.57) and 200 butterfly (1:58.41) while
Jack Rohlinger won the 1,650 freestyle (17:19.24). Hover set a pool record in the 100 backstroke, breaking the record of 52.37 set by Sam Trofholz of Nebraska Wesleyan in 2018.
Carlson was second in the 100 butterfly (54.42) and tied for third in the 100 freestyle (15.50) while
Sergio Solis was third in the 200 backstroke (2:04.97) and
Colin Brady third in the 1,650 freestyle (18:34.33).
