Mount Vernon, Iowa - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse baseball team extended its winning streak to five with a 10-2 victory at Cornell College (Iowa) Sunday afternoon at Ash Park. The Eagles, ranked 11th on this week's D3baseball.com Top-25 Poll, improve to 8-3 on the season while the Rams drop to 2-9.  UWL completed a two-game series sweep after earning a 3-1 victory Saturday night.

The Eagles took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning as Alex Barnard scored on Brennan Schmitt's RBI single to make it 1-0. Schmitt later scored on a Cornell (Iowa) fielding error for a 2-0 advantage.  UWL added single runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings to lead 5-0.  Alex Robson scored on RBI singles from Barnard in the third and fifth innings while Sam Prissel came in on Nate Heili's single in the fourth.

Cornell (Iowa) cut the deficit to 5-2 in the bottom of the fifth, but UWL responded with two runs in the top of the sixth and added three runs in the top of the seventh.  Robson had an RBI groundout and Brady Stolzman an RBI single in the sixth for the Eagles. Heili's two-run double and Nate Roethle's RBI double in the seventh made it 10-2.
