UW-Whitewater 190, UW-La Crosse 109
Whitewater, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's swimming & diving team fell 190-109 in dual action Saturday afternoon at UW-Whitewater in the Williams Center Pool. The Eagles finish 2-4 in duals, including 1-3 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC).
UWL's
Ryan Jessen and
Kyle Wolmutt each won a pair of individual titles Saturday. Jessen captured the 50 (21.44) and 100 (48.42) yard freestyle while Wolmutt swept the one (259.60 points) and three (263.25) meter diving competition.
The Eagles'
Jacob Burchfield won the 200-yard I.M. (1:57.72) while Jessen,
Nicholas Brehmer, Burchfield and Uselman won the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:12.90).
Jessen,
Quinton Maydaniuk, Burchfield and Uselman were second (1:37.33) in the 200-yard medley relay.
Other top individual finishes included Brehmer placing second in the 100 (48.63) and 200 (1:47.21) yard freestyle while
Elijah Heggernes was second in the one (216.78 points) and three (198.30) meter diving. Burchfield finished second in the 100-yard backstroke (53.41) while Maydaniuk was third in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.43) and
Erik Wickstrom third in the 200-yard butterfly (2:07.04).
UWL returns to action Thursday, February 16 at the WIAC Championships (Presented by Culver's) in Brown Deer, Wisconsin. Action gets started at 10 a.m. in the Schroeder Aquatic Center.
