AVCA Top-25 Poll
La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse volleyball team is receiving on this week's American Volleyball Coaches Association Top-25 Poll, released Tuesday. The Eagles have 20 votes in the coaches poll.
Wittenberg University (Ohio) is ranked first while Colorado College is second followed by Trinity University (Texas), Emory University (Ga.) and Southwestern University (Texas) to round-out the top-five. Other Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) schools in the rankings include UW-Whitewater ninth while UW-Stevens Point and UW-Oshkosh are also receiving votes.
UWL extended its winning streak to six straight with a 3-0 (25-16, 25-22, 25-23) victory over UW-Stout September 30 in Mitchell Hall. The Eagles improved to 12-4 overall and 3-0 in the WIAC with the win.
With the 3-0 victory, UWL has won its last 14 sets played. Ten of the Eagles' 12 victories this season have come by a 3-0 score.
Kathryn Maas and
Stephanie Henk led UWL with 10 kills each in the victory over UW-Stout while
Laine Hoeffel and
Jessica Jablonski each finished with nine. Maas hit .500 for the match with 10 kills and one error in 18 attempts while Jablonski also hit .500 with nine kills and one error in 16 attempts.
Marisa Johnson totaled eight kills.
Madison Entinger recorded 39 assists as the Eagles hit .214 (47-20-126) for the match. UWL hit .333 (14-4-30) in the opening set.
Halle Barnabo led UWL with 18 digs. The Eagles had 6.0 team blocks.
UWL returns to action Friday, October 6 at the Wartburg College (Iowa) Invitational.
