Box Score La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse soccer team earned a 1-0 win over Milwaukee School of Engineering (Wis.) Sunday afternoon in the Eagles' home opener. UWL improves to 2-1 on the season while MSOE falls to 3-1.
Kennedy Brault earned her seventh career shutout.
In the first-ever meeting between the two teams,
Haley Hartkemeyer scored the only goal of the game at 38:43 assisted by
Kourtni Alcock. It was Hartkemeyer's second goal of the season.
UWL recorded 15 shots in the first half while holding MSOE (Wis.) to four.
The Eagles totaled 27 shots in the game, including 14 on goal. The Raiders totaled 12 shots with five on goal. Hartkemeyer led UWL with nine shots (five on goal) while
Alex Cording finished with six shots (four on goal) and
Margaret Harings had five (one on goal). Sara Travia had four shots (one on goal) for MSOE while Missy Schultz finished with three shots.
Kennedy Brault earned the shutout victory for UWL with five saves. It is her seventh career shutout.
UWL earned a win in its home opener for the first time since 2012 with a 2-1 victory over Bethel University (Minn.).
Mary McFee finished with 12 saves for MSOE while the Raiders also had one team save.
UWL returns to action Thursday, September 15 hosting The College of St. Scholastica (Minn.) at 7 p.m.
