Madison, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's tennis team earned a 8-1 victory over Carthage College (Wis.) Sunday afternoon at Hitters Sportsplex.  The Eagles improve to 19-1 on the season with their 18th straight victory.  The Lady Reds fall to 14-8 on the year.

UWL's 19 overall wins are tied for third-most in single-season school history.  The Eagles set a single-season school record for dual wins in 2010-11 and 2011-12, finishing 21-5 each year.  UWL went 19-6 in 2006-07; 19-3 in 2009-10 and 19-5 in 2014-15.

UWL is ranked 18th and Carthage (Wis.) 15th in this week's Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Central Region.  The Eagles swept Sunday's doubles matches and won five of six singles matches. 

In a match featuring a pair of ranked teams in doubles, UWL's Bridget Bellissimo and Kimmy Mrozek defeated Carthage's (Wis.) Max Mella and Angelica Emmanouil by the score of 8-4.  Bellissimo/Mrozek are ranked sixth in the ITA Central Region while Mella/Emmanouil are ranked 11th.

Bellissimo is also ranked 10th in the ITA Central Region Singles.

UWL returns to action Saturday, April 30 at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Qualifying Tournament in Whitewater, Wisconsin.  The Eagles face UW-Eau Claire and UW-Whitewater plays UW-Oshkosh at noon.  The winners face each other at 3 p.m. with the winner earning the conference's automatic bid to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) III Tournament.
