Decorah, Iowa. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's swimming and diving team earned a 218-81 dual victory over Luther College (Iowa) Saturday afternoon. UWL improves to 2-0 in dual meets this season.
UWL's
Kayley Alioto and
Katelyn Nadeau set Luther (Iowa) pool records Saturday while the Eagles captured individual swimming titles in nine events overall, both diving events, and relay events.
Alioto earned crowns in both diving competitions, winning the one-meter title with 273.75 points and the three-meter event with 291.55 points. The three-meter mark broke the previous pool record held by Luther's (Iowa) Zoe Johnson, who had 275.39 points last season (Oct. 29, 2015).
In the 200-yard butterfly, Nadeau's winning time of 2:15.06 eclipsed the previous pool record of 2:18.63 set by Lex Scharmer of Luther (Iowa) (Nov. 7, 2015).
Katelyn DeStarkey swept the titles the freestyle events Saturday, winning the 50-yard (25.39), 100-yard (55.58), and 200-yard (2:02.84).
UWL's
McKenzie Vermeire captured two titles, winning the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.87) and 400-yard IM (4:47.22), as did
Maria Vaudreuil, who won the 100 (1:09.79) and 200-yard (2:32.84) breaststroke. Vermeire also took second in the 200-yard backstroke (2:19.42).
Samantha Seymour captured the 100-yard butterfly (1:00.45).
In the relays,
Maddie Volk, Vaudreuil, Seymour, and
Anna Landgraf won the 400-yard medley relay (4:10.14), with Destarkey,
Bri Larcom,
Victoria Campbell, and Landgraf winning the 400-yard freestyle (3:45.27).
Other top finishers Saturday for the Eagles included
Cassie Stoick, who finished second in the 100 (1:13.29) and 200-yard (2:29.82) breaststroke. Volk was second in the 50-yard freestyle (25.71) and 100-yard backstroke (1:03.97).
Nadeau was second in the 100-yard butterfly (1:01.41) and Seymour finished second in the 200-yard butterfly (2:20.38).
UWL had second place finishes from
Courtney Boak in the 500-yard freestyle (5:37.52) and Larcom in the 200-yard freestyle (2:04.16), while Campbell placed second (55.75) in the 100-yard freestyle and third in the 50-yard freestyle (25.85).
Stephanie Deis earned a pair of third-place finishes in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:36.11) and 400-yard IM (5:02.29), while Landgraf was third in the 100-yard freestyle (55.79),
Ellen Costic third in the 200-yard backstroke (2:20.65), and
Kaley Brown third in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:17.17).
Bekka Reineke was second in the three-meter (275.70 points) diving competition, while
Caroline Holverson was third at both one-meter (232.80) and three-meter (254.25).
UWL returns to action December 2-4 at the Rochester Invitational.
