La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's tennis team earned a 8-1 victory over UW-Stout Friday afternoon at Veterans Courts.  The Eagles improve to 7-1 overall and 3-1 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) while the Blue Devils drop to 6-5 overall and 2-2 in the conference.

With the win, UWL improves to 46-8 (.852) overall and 13-3 (.813) in the WIAC the last three seasons.

UWL swept the three doubles matches Friday with Bridget Bellissimo/Sadie Spahn opening with a 8-3 win over Linsey Thisius/Anna Lano at No. 1 doubles. The Eagles' Hayley Clope/Alaina Bublitz defeated Emma Pedersen/Jenna Welke at No. 2 doubles (8-6) while Samantha Fleming/Lauren Weise defeated Katie Kreibich/Annie Sandry at No. 3 (8-3).

The Eagles won five of the six singles matches, dropping six games.  Bellissimo defeated Thisius at No. 1 singles (6-0, 6-1); Spahn defeated Pedersen at No. 2 (6-0, 6-1) and Clope beat Welke at No. 3 (6-0, 6-0). 

Fleming defeated Kreibich at No. 4 singles (6-0, 6-0) while Maura Andersen beat Katie Govin at No. 5 (6-2, 6-2).  The Blue Devils earned their only win at No. 6 singles as Lano defeated Bublitz (6-3, 6-4).
