Box Score La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse soccer team extended its winning streak to three with a 2-0 victory over St. Norbert College (Wis.) Sunday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex. The Eagles improve to 8-2 on the season while the Green Knights drop to 5-3-1.
It is UWL's sixth shutout win of the season, including third straight.
UWL, ranked fifth on this week's National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) North Region, took a 1-0 lead on
Natalie Herzog's fifth goal of the season at 2:02.
Haley Hartkemeyer recorded the assist. The Eagles led 1-0 at halftime after outshooting the Green Knights, 25-0. Herzog earned her fourth game-winning goal of the season Sunday.
The Eagles took a 2-0 advantage at 65:35 with
Margaret Harings scored her third goal of the season with an assist from
Maddie Granos.
UWL finished with 43 shots in the game, including 19 on goal. Hartkemeyer recorded nine shots, including five on goal, while Harings finished with six shots with four on goal. Granos had five shots, one on goal.
St. Norbert (Wis.) was held to five shots, recording none on goal.
Kennedy Brault (8-2) earned the win for UWL, playing 84:53 in goal.
Abbi Burke played the last 5:07 in goal. Maddie Plinska finished with 17 saves for St. Norbert (Wis.).
UWL returns to action Wednesday, October 5 hosting UW-Platteville at 7 p.m.
