UW-Whitewater 145.5, UW-La Crosse 97.5Whitewater, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's swimming & diving team fell 145.5-97.5 at UW-Whitewater Saturday afternoon. The Eagles drop to 4-2 overall and 3-1 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
UW-L had a pair of individual champions and one relay winner Saturday. Individually,
Mikayla Beuch captured the 100 freestyle (54.44) and
Brooke Reynolds won the 100 backstroke (59.81). The Eagles' 200 freestyle relay of
Carrie Schrock,
Katelyn DeStarkey,
Kelsey Deinhammer and Beuch also placed first (1:39.87).
Reynolds finished third in the 200 I.M. (2:17.35). Beuch and Reynolds were also members of UW-L's second-place 200 medley relay (1:52.18) joining
Leanna Schwartzlow and Katie Nadeau.
Schrock was second in the 50 freestyle (25.49) and fourth in the 100 freestyle (55.88) while DeStarkey finished fourth in the 50 freestyle (25.87). Nadeau tied for second in the 100 butterfly (1:01.34) and Schwartzlow was fourth in the 100 breaststroke (1:09.83).
Other top individual swimming performances for UW-L Saturday included
Sophie Runing second (1:03.19) and
Shelby Bowers third (1:03.48) in the 100 backstroke while Bowers also finished third in the 50 freestyle (25.75).
Anna Landgraf finished third in the 200 freestyle (2:01.74) and fourth in the 100 butterfly (1:01.38) while
Sara Zemanovic was third in the 500 freestyle (5:25.61).
The Eagles'
McKenzie Vermeire finished fourth in the 200 freestyle (2:03.27) and
Nicole Bogenreif was fourth in the 1,000 freestyle (11:24.25).
In Saturday's diving competition, UW-L's
Kayley Alioto was second (232.65 points) in the one-meter and third (233.75) in the three-meter.
Christina Reif placed second in the three-meter (257.40) and
Jordan Anderson was third in the one-meter (222.60).
Jessie Metz finished fourth in the one (219.15) and three (232.20) competitions.
UW-L returns to action Thursday, February 19 at the WIAC Championships in Brown Deer, Wisconsin.
