La Crosse, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's swimming and diving team won a pair of Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) dual meets Saturday afternoon at the Richard L. Pein Natatorium. The Eagles defeated UW-Stevens Point by a score of 159.0-84.0 and UW-Oshkosh 124.0-100.0. UW-L is now 4-1 overall and 3-0 in the WIAC.
UW-L swept the diving competition on Saturday. In the three-meter competition,
Jordan Anderson took first-place over both UW-Stevens Point and UW-Oshkosh with 286.70 points.
Kayley Alioto was second against the Pointers (259.90 points) and
Christina Reif third (258.25 points).
Alioto captured the one-meter event overall, finishing with 263.35 points.
Jessie Metz was second (248.85 points) against both opponents. Anderson was third (242.85) against UW-Stevens Point.
UW-L finished first overall in the 400 medley relay, with
Brooke Reynolds,
Katelyn Nadeau,
Leanna Schwartzlow and
Mikayla Beuch finishing in a time of 4:01.38. The Eagles team of
Sophie Runing,
Lauren Bradley,
Katelyn DeStarkey and
Kelsey Deinhammer finished third against UW-Stevens Point (4:09.91).
In the 400 freestyle relay, UW-L's team of Beuch,
Carrie Schrock,
Anna Landgraf, and Sara Zemanovic finished first (3:35.01) against UW-Oshkosh and second against UW-Stevens Point while DeStarkey,
Nicole Bogenreif,
McKenzie Vermeire, and
Katelyn Nadeau finished third (3:47.88) against UW-Stevens Point.
Reynolds was first overall individually in the 200 backstroke (2:10.55). She also won the 200 individual medley against the Pointers in a time of 2:15.03. Zemanovic beat both WIAC foes in the 500 freestyle (5:21.23) and bested the Titans in the 200 freestyle (2:00.10). Beuch captured the 100 freestyle (54.23) over both teams as well.
Against UW-Oshkosh, the Eagles won three more events. DeStarkey finished first in the 50 freestyle (25.28), Schwartzlow captured the 200 individual medley, and Nadeau took the 200 butterfly (2:16.64).
Other top finishers against UW-Stevens Point on Saturday included second-place finishes by Schwartzlow in the 200 breaststroke (2:30.43) and 200 individual medley (2:15.32). In the 200 butterfly, Nadeau was second (2:16.64) and Landgraf was second in the 100 freestyle (55.48).
DeStarkey finished second in the 50 freestyle (25.28) with Schrock third (25.39). In the 200 freestyle, Zemanovic was second (2:00.10) and Vermeire third (2:01.54).
Bogenreif was second in the 500 freestyle (5:33.93) and 1,000 freestyle (11:28.32) while
Stephanie Deis finished third in the 200 IM (2:18.95) and 200 butterfly (2:18.03).
Runing was third in the 200 backstroke (2:16.73) while
Rachel Medenwaldt was third (2:31.20) in the 200 breaststroke.
Against UW-Oshkosh, Deinhamer was second in the 200 freestyle (2:04.87), Schwartzlow second in the 200 backstroke (2:30.43) and Bogenreif second in the 1,000 free (11:28.32) with
Robin Hartung finishing fourth (11:52.99).
