UW-Eau Claire 126, UW-La Crosse 117Eau Claire, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's swimming and diving team fell 126-117 at UW-Eau Claire in a dual meet held Saturday afternoon. The Eagles drop to 0-1 in dual meets this season and 0-1 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
UWL won two individual swimming events on Saturday, with
Katelyn Nadeau winning the 100 butterfly (1:00.95) and
Emma Holbrook finishing first in the 100 backstroke (1:00.19).
The Eagles team of
Mikayla Beuch,
Carrie Schrock,
Malena Waters, and
Sara Zemanovic also captured the title in the 200 freestyle relay (1:43.58).
In the one meter diving event, UWL's
Jessie Metz was first (254.70 points), with
Kayley Alioto second (250.50) and
Christina Reif third (219.75).
Jordan Anderson was second for the Eagles at three meters (261.35), with Alioto third (241.05) and
Bekka Reineke fourth (222.30).
Other top finishes for the Eagles on Saturday included second place from Zemanovic in the 500 freestyle (5:30.87), Beuch in the 100 freestyle (55.08) and 50 free (25.10).
Anna Landgraf was second in the 100 butterfly (1:01) and 200 freestyle (2:02.39).
The 200 medley relay team of Holbrook,
Cassie Stoick,
Samantha Seymour, and Zemanovic placed second (1:53.32) with
Maddie Volk,
Elise O'Neill, Nadeau, and Waters coming in third (1:55.27).
McKenzie Vermeire,
Kelsey Deinhammer,
Katelyn DeStarkey, and Landgraf were third in the 200 freestyle relay (1:43.58).
Vermeire was third (1:03.25) in the 100 backstroke, with Volk fourth (1:03.93) while in the 100 freestyle, DeStarkey took third (57.07) with Schrock fourth (57.31).
Nadeau captured third in the 200 free (2:03.78) with DeStarkey fourth (2:06.18). In the 50 free, Schrock was third (26.02) and Waters fifth (26.17).
The Eagles'
Nicole Bogenreif swam to a third place finish in the 1000 freestyle (11:39.20) with Sara Tainter fifth (11:54.19) in the event while Vermeire came in third in the 400 IM (4:47.63) and
Stephanie Deis was fourth (5:03.32).
In the 100 butterfly, Seymour placed fourth (1:01.33) while
Courtney Boak was fifth in the 500 freestyle. Stoick was fourth in the 100 breaststroke (1:13.10) and O'Neill was sixth (1:13.64).
