UW-La Crosse 140, UW-Eau Claire 97Eau Claire, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's swimming & diving team earned a 140-97 dual victory at UW-Eau Claire Saturday afternoon. The Eagles move to 1-0 on the season and also 1-0 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
The Eagles won six individual swimming titles Saturday, along with both relays. UWL also won titles in both diving events.
Jackson Uselman led the way for the Eagles, winning the 200 freestyle (1:47.47) and 500 free (5:02.16).
UWL's
Jacob Burchfield took the 100 freestyle (49.14) while
Ryan Jessen won the 50 free (21.78) and
Charleton Skinner captured the 400 meter IM (4:26.18).
Hunter Burchfield was first in the 100 backstroke (55.32).
The 200 medley relay team of
Daniel Streater,
Quinton Maydaniuk,
Hunter Burchfield, and Jessen finished first (1:39.15) as did the 200 freestyle team of Jessen,
Jacob Burchfield,
Hunter Burchfield, and Streater (1:26.92).
UWL's
Kyle Wolmutt captured the one meter diving title (265.60 points) while
Tanner Folvag took first at three meters (271.75).
Other top finishers for UWL were Maydaniuk, finishing second in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.91) and fourth in the 50 freestyle (23.27).
Jacob Burchfield finished second (1:48.89) in the 200 freestyle while Streater was second in the 100 butterfly (55.05) and
Jacob MacKenzie was second in the 500 freestyle (5:16.28).
In the 100 freestyle, Skinner took third (49.89) while
Erik Wickstrom was third in the 400 IM (4:37.41) and fourth in the 100 butterfly (56.74).
The Eagles also had fourth place finishes from MacKenzie in the 500 freestyle (5:16.28) and
Ryan Neigbauer in the 1000 free (11:17.97). Neigbauer was fifth in the 100 backstroke.
In diving, Folvag was second at one meter (228.95), with
Elijah Heggerness third (177.35). At three meters, Heggerness finished second (178.90), with Wolmutt third (176.95).
UWL returns to action Saturday, November 21 at Luther College (Iowa) at 1 p.m.
