UW-La Crosse 151, Luther 92 Decorah, Iowa – The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's swimming and diving team earned a 151-92 dual victory at Luther College (Iowa) Saturday afternoon. The Eagles move to 1-1 on the season with the win.
The Eagles won five individual swimming titles, as well as both diving titles and one relay on Saturday.
UWL's
Elise O'Neill captured the 100 breaststroke (1:11.70) while
Kaley Brown finished first in the 100 butterfly (59.67). In the freestyle events, the Eagles'
Carrie Schrock won the 50-meter title (26.56), while
Mikayla Beuch took the 100-meter crown (54.20) and
Sara Zemanovic was first in the 200-meters (2:00.60).
The Eagles swept diving events on Saturday.
Kayley Alioto won the one meter title with 247 points while
Jordan Anderson finished first at three meters with 254.95 points.
The team of Beuch,
Katelyn DeStarkey, Schrock, and Zemanovic captured the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:41.23.
Other top finishers for the Eagles in the swimming events included second place honors for
Leslie Scheurer in the 100 freestyle (56.77),
Malena Waters in the 50 free (25.94),
Anna Landgraf in the 200 IM (2:18.60), and
Maddie Volk in the 100 backstoke (102.69). Zemanovic was second in the 500 freestyle (5:32.20) as was
Courtney Boak in the 1000 free (11:29.44).
Third place finishes came from
Cassie Stoick in the 100 breaststroke (1:12.36) and 100 free (56.89) as well as
Katelyn Nadeau in the 100 butterfly (1:00.81) and 200 free (2:04.04).
McKenzie Vermeire captured third in the 200 IM (2:19.28) and 100 backstroke (1:03.31) with
Danika Johnson third in the 50 freestyle (26.05).
The 200 medley relay team of Volk, Stoick, Landgraf and Beuch finished second (1:53.25) with
Megan Engelhardt, O'Neill,
Samantha Seymour, and Vermeire third (1:56.50). Boak,
Leslie Scheurer, Johnson, and Waters were third in the 200 free relay (1:44.19).
In diving,
Christina Reif was second at one-meter (242.10) while
Jessie Metz was third (234.85). At three meters,
Bekka Reineke finished third (249.65).
The Eagles return to action on Friday, December 4 at the Rochester (Minn.) Invitational at 5 p.m.
