Box Score River Falls, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse soccer team opened Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) play with a 2-2 double overtime tie at UW-River Falls Saturday afternoon. The Eagles are 2-2-3 overall and 0-0-1 in the WIAC while the Falcons are 4-2-1 overall and 0-0-1 in the conference.
Abby Soderholm gave UW-River Falls a 1-0 lead at 9:20 on a penalty kick. UW-L tied the match at 1-1 at 23:12 as
Kirsten Anderson scored her first goal of the season assisted by
Rachel Rogahn. The score remained tied 1-1 at halftime.
The Eagles took a 2-1 lead at 78:20 as
Kelly Denk scored on a penalty kick, her first goal of the season. Alex Swatloski tied it at 80:13 for UW-River Falls assisted by Carrie Anderson.
Ashley Tracy finished with nine saves for UW-L while Erica Cimochowski recorded two for UW-River Falls.
UW-L totaled nine shots, including four on goal, while UW-River Falls finished with 15 shots, including 11 on goal.
UW-L returns to action Saturday, September 27 hosting UW-Eau Claire at 3 p.m.
