Box Score La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse soccer team earned a 7-0 victory over UW-Superior Saturday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex in the regular-season finale for both teams. The Eagles improve to 5-7-5 overall and 3-2-3 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) while the Yellowjackets fall to 3-12-3 overall and 0-8 in the conference. It is UW-Superior's final match in the WIAC as it moves to the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) in 2015-16.
Kirsten Anderson gave the Eagles a 1-0 lead at 26:36 assisted by
Kaylie Hanson and
Nicole Lipari. UW-L took a 2-0 halftime lead with
Kelly Denk scoring at 33:41 assisted by
Rachel Rogahn.
Anderson scored the next two goals of the match to make it 4-0, scoring at 47:30 and 54:58. Both games were assisted by
Jenna Rosienski. Rogahn scored at 75:32 assisted by Lipari while for a 5-0 lead.
Nyssa Goeres made it 6-0 at 79:09 assisted by
Tina Bedwell, who finished the scoring at 89:40 assisted by
Kara Bednarek.
Anderson is the first player in school history to record three goals in a match since
Sarah Harrington had three in a 3-2 win at UW-Superior on September 16, 2005.
UW-L's seven goals are its most since recording a 7-0 victory at UW-Superior on September 19, 2009.
The Eagles finished with 21 shots in Saturday's match, including 12 on goal. The Yellowjackets were held without a shot.
UW-L's
Ashley Tracy earned the win playing 64:09 in goal.
Taylor Tomczyk played the final 25:51. UW-Superior's Bailey Henderson recorded five saves.
UW-L returns to action Tuesday, November 4 in the WIAC Tournament First Round. The Eagles, the fifth-seed, will play at fourth-seed UW-River Falls at 6 p.m.
