Box Score La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse soccer team fell 2-1 at 22nd-ranked UW-Whitewater Saturday evening at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex. The Eagles drop to 3-4-4 overall and 1-1-2 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) while the Warhawks improve to 12-2 overall and 5-0 in the conference. UW-Whitewater is ranked 22nd in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Poll and second in the NSCAA North Region.
Carly Pottie gave UW-Whitewater a 1-0 lead on an unassisted goal at 59:32. It was her fifth goal of the season. Nicole Lorenz made it 2-0 for the Warhawks, scoring at 80:28 on a Carina Krausert corner kick. It was Lorenz' third goal of the year.
UW-L cut the lead to 2-1 at 85:16 as
Megan Gresl scored her second goal of the season assisted by
Tina Bedwell.
UW-L finished with 10 shots, including six on goal.
UW-Whitewater totaled 12 shots in the match, including seven on goal.
Ashley Tracy finished with five saves for the Eagles while Jordan Myers recorded five for the Warhawks.
UW-L returns to action Wednesday, October 15 at UW-Stevens Point at 3 p.m.
