Box Score La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse soccer team fell 2-1 in overtime to UW-Stout Saturday night at Veterans Field. The Eagles drop to 2-6-1 overall and 1-1-1 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) while the Blue Devils improve to 3-7-1 overall and 1-1 in the conference.
It is UW-Stout's first win in the last nine matches with UW-L. The Eagles were 6-0-2 in the last eight meetings between the two teams before Saturday's match.
After a scoreless first half,
Sarah Jacobs gave UW-L a 1-0 lead at 55:39 assisted by
Megan Gresl. It was the first goal of the season for Jacobs.
UW-Stout tied the match at 1-1 at 75:50 as Emily Ferger scored on a penalty kick. The Blue Devils then scored the winning goal in overtime at 91:45 as Camille Fawcett scored on a header off a cross from Kelly Conn.
UW-L finished with 14 shots in the match, including eight on goal. UW-Stout totaled 23 shots with eight on goal.
Ashley Tracy recorded six saves for UW-L while Robbie Shelby finished with seven for UW-Stout.
UW-L returns to action Saturday, October 5 at UW-Whitewater at 5 p.m.
