WIAC All-Sports Awards Standings
Madison, Wis. - The
University of Wisconsin-La Crosse claimed a share of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Men's All-Sports Award for the 2012-13 academic year. UW-L shares the award with UW-Whitewater.
The Eagles and Warhawks accumulated 37.5 points to mark just the second time in league archives the men's award has been split. UW-L, UW-Stevens Point and UW-Whitewater shared the honor in 2004.
UW-L finished third (74.5) in the combined all-sports award and fifth (37.0) in the women's all-sports award.
This year's men's all-sports title is the 17th in school history for UW-L. The Eagles claimed men's conference championships in cross country, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field.
UW-L captured women's league titles in swimming & diving, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field.
The three All-Sports Awards are given annually by the conference. Points for the awards are given according to the final conference standings in each sport on a 9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 basis, or 8-7-6, etc., depending on how many schools compete in each sport. Either (but not both) indoor or outdoor track & field are included in the calculations, and the awards are determined on the basis of the lowest number of sports offered by any WIAC institution in each category.
