UW-La Crosse 162, UW-Eau Claire 90
Eau Claire, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's swimming & diving team earned a 162-90 victory over UW-Eau Claire Saturday afternoon in McPhee Physical Education Center. The Eagles improve to 1-0 on the season, including 1-0 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC).
UW-L's
Tessa Kahring captured the one-meter diving competition (254.35 points) and placed second in the three-meter (247.00). The Eagles'
Christina Reif was fourth (244.40) in the three-meter and
Jordan Anderson fifth (231.35) in the one-meter.
The Eagles' swept the two relays Saturday as
Emma Holbrook,
Leanna Schwartzlow,
Taylor Smith and
Mikayla Beuch won the 200 medley relay (1:49.04) and
Sara Zemanovic,
Katelyn DeStarkey,
Shannon Miller and
Erica O'Neill captured the 400 freestyle relay (3:43.84).
Individually, Beuch, Schwartzlow and Zemanovic each won two events. Beuch captured the 50 (25.12) and 100 (54.71) freestyle; Schwartzlow the 400 I.M. (4:47.95) and 100 breaststroke (1:08.80) and Zemanovic the 200 (1:59.95) and 500 (5:23.34) freestyle.
Holbrook won the 100 backstroke (59.35) Saturday.
DeStarkey was second in the 100 (56.41) and 200 (2:02.16) freestyle while
Allie Yemm placed second in the 100 butterfly (1:00.12) and 100 breaststroke (1:10.47).
Robin Hartung finished fourth in the 500 (5:36.29) and 1,000 (11:42.12) freestyle while
Brooke Soller finished fifth in the 500 freestyle (5:36.47) and second in the 1,000 freestyle (11:24.30).
Noelle Anderson was second (4:48.87) and
McKenzie Vermeire third (4:58.49) in the 400 I.M. Saturday while
Brooke Reynolds finished second (1:01.31) and
Sophie Runing fifth (1:04.75) in the 100 backstroke. UW-L's
Erica O'Neill was third (25.54) and
Elise O'Neill fourth (25.59) in the 50 freestyle while Katie Nadeu placed third (1:01.32) and Smith fourth (1:01.79) in the 100 butterfly.
Other top-five finishes Saturday included
Carrie Schrock third (56.46) in the 100 freestyle;
Eliza Lynch third (2:02.17) in the 200 freestyle;
Lauren Bradley fifth (1:11.86) in the 100 breaststroke and
Kelsey Kennedy fifth (12:17.86) in the 1,000 freestyle.
UW-L returns to action Saturday, November 16 hosting NCAA Division II St. Cloud State University at 1 p.m.
