St. Cloud State (Minn.) 150.5, UW-La Crosse 88.5
La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's swimming & diving team opened its 2013-14 home season with a 150.5-88.5 loss to NCAA Division II St. Cloud State University (Minn.) Saturday afternoon in Mitchell Hall. The Eagles are now 1-1 on the season.
UW-L's
Justin Bublitz and
Caleb Cole both won individual titles Saturday. Bublitz captured the three-meter diving competition with 318.95 points while Cole won the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:02.50. Bublitz was also second in the one-meter diving with 307.25 points.
Both UW-L relays placed second Saturday. The 200 freestyle relay of
Nick Kehler,
Nicholas Brehmer,
Stephen Hanko and
Erich Schnell finished second (1:28.20) as did the 400 medley relay of Hanko,
Jesse Gambrell,
David Flickinger and
Jackson Uselman (3:33.63).
Other top individual finishes included
Andrew Janny second in the three-meter diving (302.80) and third in the one-meter (284.10).
Uselman was second in the 200 freestyle (1:47.13) and third in the 500 freestyle (5:07.68). Kehler was second (22.41) in the 50 freestyle while Schnell placed second (48.87) in the 100 freestyle.
Jesse Gambrell placed second (2:20.97) and
Spencer Ritt third (2:25.83) in the 200 breaststroke while Flickinger was second (2:01.11) in the 200 butterfly and Hanko second (1:58.49) in the 200 backstroke.
The Eagles'
Jacob Kisiolek placed fourth (10:53.40) in the 1,000 freestyle and
Charleton Skinner was fourth (2:03.97) in the 200 I.M.
UW-L returns to action Saturday, November 23 hosting the River City Relays starting at 10 a.m.
