La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse soccer team earned a 1-0 non-conference victory over Lawrence University (Wis.) Saturday afternoon at Veterans Field. The Eagles improve to 2-2 on the season with their second straight home win while the Vikings fall to 0-4 on the year.
UW-L's
Kara Bednarek notched the only goal of the game at 87:00 with an assist from
Kirsten Anderson. It was Bednarek's second goal of the season, both coming as match winners. She scored the winning goal in the Eagles' 2-1 victory over Bethel University (Minn.) September 5.
The Eagles totaled 27 shots in Saturday's match with 10 on goal.
Jenna Rosienski and
Saskia Taylor both had five shots on goal with Taylor finishing with two on goal.
Laura Sauer had four shots, including three on goal.
Lawrence finished with four shots, including one on goal.
UW-L's
Sagan Pizzingrilli recorded her 11th career shutout with one save. Lawrence's Cassandra Burke had nine saves.
UW-L returns to action Wednesday, September 12 hosting Wartburg College (Iowa) at 7 p.m.
