UW-La Crosse 8, Lawrence (Wis.) 1
Whitewater, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's tennis team improved to 5-1 on the season with a non-conference 8-1 victory over Lawrence University (Wis.) Friday night at UW-Whitewater.
The Eagles won five of six singles matches. Kelly Stadum defeated Jenni Roesch at No. 2 singles (6-1, 7-6); Mara Weiner defeated Gayatri Malhotra at No. 3 (6-4, 6-4) and Jenny Maruyama beat Carla Schmidt at No. 4 (6-4, 6-4).
At No. 5 singles, Andrea Vivian beat Kat Valde (6-2, 6-2) and Olivia Hartwick beat Greta Elsass at No. 6 singles (6-0, 6-0).
The Vikings' Beth Larson earned the win over Katie McDonald at No. 1 singles (7-6, 6-1).
UW-L swept all three doubles matches. Stadum/Kuether defeated Larson/Roesch at No. 1 (8-5); Maruyama/Hartwick beat Malhotra/Schmidt at No. 2 (8-3) and Abby Tresedder/Megan Fallon defeated Valde/Elsass (8-0).
UW-L returns to WIAC play Saturday, September 18 at UW-Whitewater starting at 12:30 p.m.
