UW-L at Wartburg College Results

Waverly, Iowa - The UW-La Crosse women's tennis team opened its 2009 season with three victories over the weekend at Wartburg College. The Eagles defeated Cornell College, Iowa (8-1) and Knox College, Iowa (9-0) Saturday, Sept. 5. UW-L then split a pair of matches Sunday, Sept. 6, falling to Luther College, Iowa (6-3) and defeating Wartburg (6-3).

Mara Weiner went 4-0 in singles play throughout the weekend, going 1-0 at No. 4 and No. 5 singles and 2-0 at No. 6. Kelly Kuether went 3-0 overall, including 2-0 at No.1 singles and 1-0 at No. 2.

Kelly Stadum finished 3-1 in singles while Carlie Bohrman, Jenny Maruyama and Katie McDonald each went 2-1.

UW-L finished 19-5 in singles play overall.

In doubles competition, Bohrman/Megan Fallon went 2-1 overall, including 2-0 at No. 2. Kuether/Sarah Schoenwaelder finished 2-1 at No. 1 doubles.

The Eagles were 7-5 overall in doubles.

UW-L returns to action Friday, Sept. 11 at Beloit College (Wis.) at 4 p.m.
