2024-25 Howie's Dynamite Student-Athletes of the Week

May 19-250
Lauren Jarrett, Jr., La Crosse (Logan), Track & Field
   Jarrett swept the 100 (11.30) and 200 (23.44) meter dash titles at the NCAA Division III Championships while also being a member of the national champion 4x100-meter relay. She set an NCAA III Championship record in the 100-meter dash to capture her second straight title. Jarrett became the first sprinter to win back-to-back national titles in the 100-meter dash since 2014-15. She broke her own school record in the 200-meter dash while tying the NCAA III Championship record to win her second consecutive crown. Jarrett is the first student-athlete to win two consecutive titles in the 200-meter dash since 2017-18. 
   Jarrett was joined by Julie Yang, Anika Reiland and Makenna Zak in winning the 4x100-meter relay this year with an NCAA III record time of 45.20. Jarrett, Reiland and Zak were also on the champion 4x100-meter relay last season.

Sam Blaskowski, Sr., Oshosh (West), Track & Field
    Blaskowski swept the 100 (10.14) and 200 (20.35) meter dash titles at the NCAA Division III Championships as well as being a member of the first-place 4x100-meter relay. He became the second sprinter in NCAA III history to win four consecutive championships in the 100-meter dash. Blaskowski won his second straight 200-meter dash title this season, the seventh student-athlete in NCAA III history to win at least two consecutive crowns. 
   Blaskowski joined Ryder Smith, Evan Maurud and Lyndon Hemmrich-Hartman in winning this year's 4x100-meter relay with an NCAA III Championship record time of 39.66. It was Blaskowski's third straight title in the 4x100-meter relay after also winning in 2023 and 2024.

April 28-May 4
Lucile Duchac, Jr., Lisbon (Arrowhead), Track & Field
   Duchac won the 10,000-meter run (36:31.55) in helping lead UWL to the title at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championships. She became the first runner for UWL to win the crown since Corissa Conard in 2023.

Mac Born, Sr., Chaska, Minn. (H.S.), Baseball
   Born hit .389 (7-of-18) with three runs, one home run and nine RBI in our starts. He recorded a .389 on-base and .556 slugging percentage. Born had three multiple-hit games in the series versus UW-Stevens Point on May 2-3. He went 5-for-9 with three runs, one home run and seven RBI in a doubleheader May 3. Born broke the WIAC career hits record on May 3, increasing his total 321. He broke the all-time record of UW-Stevens Point's Bradley Comer. 

April 21-27
Lauren Feeney, Sr., Libertyville, Ill. (H.S.), Lacrosse
   Feeney totaled 17 goals off just 20 shots in three games during a four-day span. She recorded 19 of her shots on goal while converting two-of-two eight-meter opportunities. Feeney also had one assist, five ground balls and four caused turnovers for the week. She scored five goals at UW-Eau Claire on April 23 and three against Southwestern University (Texas) on April 25. Feeney, playing in her final home game on April 26, scored a single-game school record nine goals versus Hamline University (Minn.) on April 26. She also set a single-game school record with 10 points versus the Pipers. 

Tyler Schneider, Fr., Whitefish Bay (H.S.), Tennis
    Schneider earned a pair of wins versus UW-Stevens Point on April 22. He earned a 6-4, 7-6 (7-1) victory at No. 1 singles over Steven Boney as UWL earned the dual win. Schneider and Jack Hehli earned a 7-6 (9-7) win at No. 2 doubles over Ayden Knuth/Malcom Rice.

April 14-20
Lauren Jarrett, Jr., La Crosse (Logan), Track & Field
   Jarrett won the 100-meter dash with an NCAA Division III record time of 11.23 at the Azusa Pacific University (Calif.) Bryan Clay Invitational on April 18. She broke the national record of 11.49 by Michelle Kwafo of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy (Ct.) set in 2023. Jarrett then won the 200-meter dash with a school record time of 23.69 at the Long Beach State University (Calif.) Invitational on April 19, breaking her own record of 23.81 set last season. Her time ranks fifth in NCAA III history. She also placed second in the 100-meter dash (11.55) in the 100-meter dash at Long Beach State (Calif).

Sam Blaskowski, Sr., Oshkosh (West), Track & Field
   Blaskowski placed seventh in the 100-meter dash (10.09) and fourth in the 200-meter dash (20.33) at the University of Florida Tom Jones Memorial Invitational April 18-19. He tied his own NCAA Division III record in the 100-meter dash and set a school record in the 200-meter dash. Blaskowski's time in the 200-meter dash ranks second in NCAA Division III history. He ran in the Invite sections in both events.

April 7-13
Anna Plautz, So., Stevens Point (SPASH), Track & Field
   Plautz won the 400-meter dash (56.42) and placed seventh in the 200-meter dash (25.15) at the UW-Platteville Invitational on April 12. Her time of 56.42 in the 400-meter dash ranks first on the WIAC Honor Roll. 

Alex Wagner, Fr., La Crosse (Central), Track & Field
   Wagner won the pole vault (16-0 3/4) at the UW-Platteville Invitational on April 12. His mark of 16-0 3/4 ranks first on the WIAC Honor Roll and 11th in NCAA Division III.

March 31-April 6
Gabby Johnson, Gr., Plover (Stevens Point), Track & Field
      Johnson finished second (140-8) in the javelin throw in helping lead UWL to the team title at the Ashton May Invitational on April 5. Her mark of 140-8 ranks fourth on the NCAA Division III Honor Roll and first in the WIAC.

Chris VandenHeuvel, Sr., Neenah (Appleton Xavier), Baseball
      VandenHeuvel hit .588 (10-of-17) in UWL's four-game sweep at 24th-ranked UW-Oshkosh on April 5-6. He recorded multiple hits in all four contests with three multi-RBI games. VandenHeuvel scored five runs with 11 RBI, three walks, one double and one home run while recording a .650 on-base and .824 slugging percentage. He went 5-for-9 with four runs, four RBI and one home run in a doubleheader April 5 and finished 5-for-8 with seven RBI, two walks, one run and one double April 6. VandenHeuvel had the game-winning RBI in a pair of games.

March 24-30
Andrew Rajkovich, Sr., Madison (La Follette), Baseball
     Rajkovich hit .714 (10-of-14) with five home runs, 11 runs, 13 RBI, three walks, one double and one stolen base in UWL's four game sweep of UW-Stout on March 27-28. He hit home runs in all four games while recording four multiple-hit contests and scoring at least two runs in all four games. Rajkovich went 5-for-7 with six runs, eight RBI, three home runs, one walk and one stolen base in a doubleheader March 27 and finished 5-for-7 with five runs, five RBI, two home runs, two walks and one double in a doubleheader on March 28. Rajkovich recorded a 1.857 slugging and .765 on-base percentage. He finished with 26 total bases for the four games series.

Grant Matthai, Jr., Wauwatosa (East), Track & Field
    Matthai placed third (13:56.79) in the 5,000-meter run at the Washington University in St. Louis (Mo.) Distance Carnival on March 27. He broke Ethan Gregg's school record of 13:58.36 set in 2023. Matthai's time ranks 12th in NCAA III history. 

March 17-23
Jessica Taylor, Sr., Overland Park, Kan. (Blue Valley), Gymnastics
   Taylor captured the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) floor exercise title (9.990) in helping lead UWL to the team championship. Her score of 9.990 broke the school record of 9.925 set by Elsa Spitzmueller at the 2016 NCGA Championships. Taylor is the first gymnast to win the national title on the floor exercise since Gabi Hooper in 2010. 

Grace Kehr, Jr., Coon Rapids, Minn. (H.S.), Gymnastics
   Kehr won the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) vault title (9.850) in helping lead UWL to the team championship. Her score of 9.850 is tied for third in school history. Kehr also earned NCGA All-America honors with a second-place tie (9.875) on the floor exercise. She is the seventh gymnast in UWL history to win the NCGA vault title and first since Dani Barmore in 2018.

March 10-16
Lauren Jarrett, Jr., La Crosse (Logan), Track & Field
   Lauren Jarrett swept the 60 (7.31) and 200 (23.94) meter dash at the NCAA Division III Championships, helping UWL to a third-place finish. She became the fourth sprinter in NCAA III history to accomplish the feat, including the first since 2018. It was Jarrett's second career title in the 60-meter dash, also winning in 2024. Jarrett tied her own NCAA Division III record with a time of 7.29 in the preliminaries. She also set a school record in the 200-meter dash at 23.94, breaking Emma Lawrence's record of 24.44 set in 2023. She is the only sprinter in UWL history to win the 60 and 200-meter dash.

Sam Blaskowski, Sr., Oshkosh (West), Track & Field
   
Blaskowski swept the 60 (6.22) and 200 (21.26) meter dash at the NCAA Division III Championships, helping lead UWL to the team title. It was Blaskowski's third straight national title in the 60-meter dash and second consecutive 200-meter dash crown. He is the only sprinter in NCAA Division III history to win three championships in the 60-meter dash and the only one to capture two titles in the 200-meter dash. 

March 3-9
Lauryn Milne, Sr., Lodi (H.S.), Basketball
   Milne averaged 16.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists in two NCAA Division III Tournament games. She scored 23 points with five rebounds and three assists in a victory over Colorado College on March 7, UWL's first win in the national tournament since 1988. Milne was nine-of-15 from the field, including two-of-five from three-point range, and three-of-five at the free throw line. She finished with nine points and six rebounds in a second round loss to UW-Whitewater on March 8.

Dustin Derousseau, Jr., Tomah (H.S.), Basketball
    Derousseau averaged 20.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 3.0 steals and 2.0 blocks in a pair of wins in the NCAA Division III Championships. He finished with 17 points, seven rebounds, nine assists, three blocks and three steals in an opening round victory over Greenville University (Ill.) March 7. Derousseau then finished with 23 points, six rebounds and three steals in a win over St. Norbert College (Wis.) March 8 as UWL advanced to the NCAA Division III Sweet 16 for the first time.

February 24-March 2
Samantha Barrett, Sr., Prior Lake, Minn. (H.S.), Track & Field
    Barrett won the triple jump (39-7) at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championships for the second consecutive year. She helped lead UWL to its fifth straight indoor league title. Barrett currently ranks first on the WIAC Honor Roll and ninth in NCAA Division III.

Quintin Wolbert, So., Wales (H.S.), Wrestling
    Wolbert won the individual title at the NCAA Division III Region VII Regional at 125-pounds, finishing 4-0. In the semifinals, Wolbert won by major decision (16-5) over Wyatt Kaczrowski of Augsburg (Minn.). He defeated Thomas Turner of Pacific University (Ore.) by fall (2:21) in the championship match. Wolbert beat Andrew Cain of Lakeland University (Wis.) by fall (1:13) in his opening match and Thomas Holmquist of St. John's University (Minn.) by fall (4:09) in the quarterfinals. With the win, he automatically qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships.

February 17-23
Joanne Banaszak, Jr., Kenosha (Indian Trail), Swimming & Diving
    Banaszak swept the one (466.70 points) and three (458.70) meter diving titles as she helped lead UWL to the WIAC Championships. She captured the three-meter title for the second straight season and was named the WIAC Diver of the Meet for the second consecutive championships. Banaszak set a WIAC Championship record with her 466.70 points in the three-meter, breaking the record of 461.00 set by UWL's Kayley Alioto in 2018. Banaszak is the seventh diver in school history to sweep the one and three-meter diving titles.

Dustin Derousseau, Jr., Tomah (H.S.), Basketball
      Derousseau averaged 21.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals in a pair of victories. He finished with 22 points, five rebounds, two assists and one steal in a win at UW-River Falls on February 19, going eight-of-14 from the field and five-of-five at the free throw line. Derousseau had 20 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, two steals and one block in a victory over UW-Stevens Point on February 22. The win over UW-Stevens Point helped UWL tie the school's record for single-season victories.
      Derousseau went eight-of-11 from the field and two-of-three at the line versus UW-Stevens Point. He shot 64.0% (16-of-25) from the field and 87.5% (seven-of-eight) at the line for the week. He led UWL in scoring in both games.

February 10-16
Lauryn Milne, Sr., Lodi (H.S.), Basketball
     Milne averaged 17.0 points and 5.0 rebounds in a pair of games. She finished with 10 points and two rebounds at 24th-ranked UW-Whitewater on February 12. Milne then totaled 24 points, eight rebounds and two steals in UWL's 64-56 victory over fifth-ranked UW-Oshkosh on February 15. Playing on Senior Day, Milne went eight-of-13 from the field, including two-of-five from three-point range, and six-of-nine at the free throw line versus UW-Oshkosh. She had five points in overtime, including a three-pointer with :31 left to give the Eagles a six-point lead. 

Tyler Goebel, Sr., Mukwonago (H.S.), Wrestling
    Goebel won the 157-pound title at the WIAC Championships with a 3-0 record. It was his second league title, capturing the 149-pound division in 2024. Goebel won by technical fall (20-2) over UW-Stevens Point's Dylan Cariveau in the quarterfinals this season and by major decision (9-0) over 15th-ranked Jermaine Butler of UW-Whitewater in the semifinals. Ranked fourth in the NWCA, Goebel won in a tiebreaker (5-4) over Luke Swan of UW-Whitewater in the title match. Goebel also placed second at the 2023 WIAC Championships and fifth in 2022 at 149-pounds.

February 3-9
Anna Plautz, So., Stevens Point (SPASH), Track & Field
     Plautz won the 400-meter dash with a school record 56.63 at the Mark Guthrie Legacy Invitational on February 8. She broke the school record of 56.67 set by Jenna Halvorson in 2014. Her time of 56.63 ranks first on the WIAC Honor Roll and seventh in NCAA Division III. Plautz was also on the first-place 4x400-medley relay (3:52.90) at the Guthrie Invite. 

Sam Blaskowski, Sr., Oshkosh (West), Track & Field
     Blaskowski won the 60-meter dash at the Mark Guthrie Legacy Invitational on February 8, breaking his own NCAA Division III record with a time of 6.62. He broke his own national record of 6.64 set last season.

January 27-February 2
Joanne Banaszak, Jr., Kenosha (Indian Trail), Swimming & Diving
     Banaszak swept the one (272.30 points) and three-meter (280.95) competition in UWL's dual victory at UW-Stevens Point on February 1.

Ben Collins, So., Madison (West), Swimming & Diving
     Collins won three individual events and was a member of a first-place relay in UWL's dual victory at UW-Stevens Point on February 1. He captured the 200 freestyle (1:48.01) as well as the 100 (1:00.53) and 200 (2:10.75) breaststroke. Collins was also on the winning 400 medley relay (3:31.64). 

January 20-26
Lauren Jarrett, Jr., La Crosse (Logan), Track & Field
     Jarrett won the 60-meter dash (7.37) at the UWL Pat Healy Classic on January 25, breaking the NCAA Division III record of 7.40 set by Wadeline Jonathas of the University of Massachusetts-Boston set in 2018. Jarrett broke the facility record of 7.47 set by Dominique Thomas of UW-Milwaukee in 2024. Jarrett also broke her school record of 7.41 set last season.
     She also won the 200-meter dash (24.26) on Saturday, breaking Emma Lawrence's school record of 24.44 set in 2023. Jarrett broke the Hetzel Fieldhouse record of 24.93 by UW-Milwaukee's Natalie Block in 2023. Jarrett's time of 24.26 ranks sixth in NCAA Division III history.

Ben Kawczynski, Sr., Oak Creek (H.S.), Wrestling
     Kawczynski went 2-0 on the week. He earned a major decision (12-1) over Evan Danowski of UW-Whitewater in UWL's dual victory on January 23. Kawczynski earned his second major decision of the week with a win (16-2) over Parker Venz of Augsburg University (Minn.) on January 25. Venz is ranked second in the NWCA. 

January 13-19
Ava Pulvermacher, Fr., Madison (West), Swimming & Diving
   Pulvermacher won the 200 (2:00.38) and 500 (5:27.63) freestyle in UWL's dual victory over UW-Oshkosh on January 18. She was also on the Eagles' first-place 400 freestyle relay (3:43.10).

Blake Nelson, Sr., Charlotte, N.C. (Lincoln Charter), Swimming & Diving
   In the final home meet of his career, Nelson won the 50 (20.65) and 100 (47.83) freestyle in UWL's dual victory over UW-Oshkosh on January 18. He was also a member of the Eagles' first-place 200 medley relay (1:31.68) and 400 freestyle relay (3:12.26).

January 6-12
Lauren Main, So., Belvidere, Ill. (North), Gymnastics
     Main won the balance beam (9.700) and finished second on the uneven parallel bars (9.450) in UWL's season-opening dual victory at Hamline University (Minn.) on January 12. Her score of 9.700 on the balance beam was a career-high. 

Sam Grieger, So., Randolph (H.S.), Basketball
     Grieger averaged 21.5 points, 2.5 assists and 2.0 rebounds in a pair of games. He finished with 13 points, three rebounds, two assists, two blocks and one steal versus top-ranked UW-Platteville on January 8. Grieger then had a career-high 30 points with three assists in a 84-83 overtime win at 16th-ranked UW-Stevens Point on January 11. He went four-of-seven from three-point range and 12-of-14 at the free throw line in the game. Grieger had five points in overtime, making his only field goal attempt while going three-of-three at the line.

December 23-January 5
Lauryn Milne, Sr., Lodi (H.S.), Basketball
     Milne averaged 18.0 points, 7.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.3 steals in three games. She averaged 17.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists in two games at the Guilford College (N.C.) Holiday Tournament as UWL went 2-0. Milne recorded a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds in a win over Guilford (N.C.) on December 28. It was her third double-double of the season. She then had 20 points, six rebounds, five assists, one block and one steal in a victory over the University of Mary Washington (Va.) on December 29. In the WIAC opener at UW-Eau Claire on January 4, Milne finished with 19 points, five rebounds, three steals and two assists. She shot 56.8% (21-of-37) from the field or the week and 72.7% (eight-of-11) at the free throw line. 

Karter Thomas, Jr., Oshkosh (West), Basketball
     Thomas averaged 16.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists in three games as UWL went 3-0. He was named to the UW-Oshkosh BSN Winter Classic Team after averaging 18.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists. Thomas had a season-high 22 points in a victory over Hamline University (Minn.) on December 29 while adding four rebounds, two assists and two steals. He finished with 15 points, six rebounds and two assists in a win over 12th-ranked Keene State University (N.H.) on December 30. In the WIAC opener, Thomas had 12 points, two rebounds and one assist in a victory over UW-Eau Claire on January 4.

December 9-22
Torin Hannah, Sr., Mount Horeb (H.S.), Basketball
   Hannah finished with 15 points, six rebounds and one steal off the bench in UWL's 86-74 win over Ripon College (Wis.) on December 21 while playing 23 points. He went six-of-seven from the field, including three-of-four from three-point range. Hannah had eight points in the first half and seven in the second half. The 15 points were a season-high with the six rebounds tied a season-high. He scored five straight points in a 13-0 run to give UWL a 26-13 lead.

Marcus Orlandoni, Sr., Fond du Lac (St. Mary's Springs), Wrestling
    Orlandoni earned a sudden victory (4-1) over sixth-ranked Niall Schoenfelder of UW-Eau Claire in UWL's 21-14 dual victory on December 11. Orlandoni is ranked seventh in the NWCA. His victory tied the dual, 14-14, and helped lead the Eagles to their 38th straight victory over the Blugolds. Schoenfelder is a returning NCAA Division III All-America.


December 2-8
Autumn Seebach, Sr., Menomonee Falls (H.S.), Swimming
   Seebach competed in four individual events and all five relays in helping lead UWL to a fifth-place finish at the 10-team Rochester (Minn.) Invitational on December 5-7, featuring NCAA II and III schools. Individually, she had top-15 finishes in all four events. Seebach was sixth (2:07.31) in the 200 backstroke and eighth (58.49) in the 100 backstroke while placing 13th (2:12.02) in the 200 I.M. and 15th (1:01.67) in the 100 I.M. As a member of the relays, Seebach was on UWL's ninth-place (7:58.44) 800 freestyle relay and 13th-place (3:59.12) 400 medley relay. She was also a member of the 200 medley relay (19th; 1:50.44), 200 freestyle relay (19th; 1:41.36) and 400 freestyle relay (25th; 3:45.81). 

Eddie Simes, So., Amery (Amery-Pinnacle), Wrestling
   Simes won the 174-pound title at the Buena Vista University (Iowa) Open on December 7, going 4-0. He received a first round bye and won by technical fall (21-6) over Jakobe Lahr of Iowa Central Community College in the second round. Simes advanced in the quarterfinals with a major decision (11-2) over teammate Jack Gillis. Simes won by decision (9-7) over teammate Leo Draveling in the semifinals and captured the crown with a win by fall (:41) over teammate Sedeeq AlObaidai.

November 25-December 1
Lauryn Milne, Sr., Lodi (H.S.), Basketball
      Milne averaged 15.3 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists in three games. She finished with 16 points and five assists in a 68-65 loss at 19th-ranked Hope College (Mich.) on November 26, going four-of-five from three-point range. Milne recorded a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds in UWL's 62-58 victory over 23rd-ranked Concordia College (Minn.) on November 30 and finished the week with 14 points and six rebounds in a 57-54 loss to the College of Saint Benedict (Minn.) on December 1. 

JJ Paider, Jr., Neenah (H.S.), Basketball
     Paider recorded a double-double with 16 points and game-high 12 rebounds in UWL's 80-71 victory at 15th-ranked Saint John's University (Minn.) on November 27. He added three assists and one block in registering his third double-double of the season. 

November 18-24
Aidan Matthai, Jr., Wauwatosa (East), Cross Country
    Matthai placed fifth at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships, completing the 8,000-meter course in 24:11.8. He earned his first career All-America honor as helped lead UWL to the team title. His brother, Grant Matthai, finished third overall (24:04.4) to also pick up All-America accolades. It marked the second time in school history UWL had two runners place in the top-five at the national championships. Brett Altergott won the national title and Brad Wilson was fourth in 1997.

   Matthai placed third at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships, completing the 8,000-meter course in 24:04.4. He earned his first career All-America honor as helped lead UWL to the team title. His brother, Aidan Matthai, finished fifth overall (24:11.8) to also pick up All-America accolades. It marked the second time in school history UWL had two runners place in the top-five at the national championships. Brett Altergott won the national title and Brad Wilson was fourth in 1997.

November 11-17
Lauryn Milne, Sr., Lodi (H.S.), Basketball
     Milne scored a team-high 13 points with four rebounds, three steals and two assists in a 73-57 victory in UWL's home opener over Bethel University (Minn.) on November 15. She was five-of-seven from the field, including one-of-one from three-point range, and two-of-four at the free throw line. 

Tyler Goebel, Sr., Mukwonago (H.S.), Wrestling
     Goebel improved to 4-0 on the season with three wins. He opened with a win by decision (4-3) over top-ranked and defending NCAA Division III champion Nick Sacco of The College of New Jersey on November 14. Goebel's win helped lead UWL to a comeback 20-15 victory over TCNJ. He went 2-0 at the UW-Oshkosh Duals on November 16, earning a major decision (16-3) over Austin Martin of Aurora University (Ill.) and a technical fall (23-8) over Alex Garza of Harper College (Ill.). 

November 4-10
Aubree Caya, So., Oregon (H.S.), Soccer
   Caya scored the game-winning goal at 88:50 to give UWL a 2-1 victory over UW-Platteville in the WIAC Tournament Championship game. The Eagles earned their third straight WIAC title and secured the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championships.

Jack Studer, Sr., Eyota, Minn. (Dover-Eyota)
     Studer caught five passes for 107 yards and two touchdowns in UWL's 24-21 win over UW-Whitewater on November 9. He caught a 13-yard touchdown pass to give the Eagles a 17-7 lead with 10:04 remaining in the fourth quarter. After UW-Whitewater cut the deficit to 17-14, Studer had a 79-yard touchdown catch with 8:06 left to extend UWL's lead to 24-14. With his 107 receiving yards, Studer became UWL's career leader with 3,008 yards, breaking Scott Burnoski's (2001-04) record of 3,004 yards. 

October 28-November 3
Chelsea Gale, Sr., Crystal Lake, Ill. (Prairie Ridge), Soccer
   Gale had a pair of goals, including the game-winner, in UWL's 6-2 victory over Concordia University Wisconsin on October 29, recording three shots on goal, including two on goal. She then had two shots with one on goal in UWL's 1-0 win over UW-Stevens Point on November 2 as the Eagles extended their WIAC unbeaten streak to 22 (21-0-1). It was also UWL's ninth shutout of the season. 

Grant Matthai, Jr., Wauwatosa (East), Cross Country
   Grant Matthai won the individual title at the WIAC Championships on November 2 with a time of 23:45.5 on the 8,000-meter course. He became fourth runner in the last six championships to win the league title, joining Thomas Schultz (2018), Josh Schraeder (2019) and Ethan Gregg (2022). Matthai helped lead UWL to its seventh straight league title. 

October 21-27
Gabby Johnson, Sr., Stevens Point (SPASH), Volleyball
     Johnson averaged 3.18 kills per set in three matches last week while recording her 1,000th career kill. She had seven kills at 20th-ranked UW-Platteville on October 25 and seven versus North Central College (Ill.) on October 26. Johnson became the 13th player to record 1,000 career kills when she finished with 21 at Augustana College (Ill.) on October 26. She has 1,020 kills in her career.

Gabe Lynch, Jr., Indian Creek, Ill. (Carmel Catholic), Football
     Lynch finished with a career-high 38 rushing attempts and career-high 229 yards rushing with one touchdown in UWL's 28-24 victory over 10th-ranked UW-River Falls on October 26. He scored on a 42-yard run with 5:32 left in the third quarter to give the Eagles a 21-17 lead. Lynch had 153 yards rushing in the second half, including 87 in the third quarter and 66 in the fourth. The 38 carries rank fourth in single-game school history while Lynch's 229 yards are eighth-most. He averaged 6.0 yards per attempt.

October 14-20
Gwen Hinz, Jr., Freedom (H.S.), Cross Country
    Hinz captured the individual title in helping lead UWL to the team championship at the Tori Neubauer Invitational at Maple Grove Venues, LLC on October 19. She completed the 6,000-meter course in 22:07.6, leading the entire race. It was her first career individual title and became the first UWL runner to win the crown since Emma Malooly in 2021. Hinz ran a personal-best by 22 seconds. A total of 237 runners completed the race.

Jack Studer, Sr., Eyota, Minn. (Dover-Eyota), Football
   Studer became UWL's career leader in touchdown receptions (31) after catching a nine-yard touchdown pass in UWL's 34-7 victory at UW-Eau Claire on October 19. He finished with eight catches for 132 yards, recording his 12th career game with at least 100-yards receiving. 

October 7-13
Joanne Banaszak, Jr., Kenosha (Indian Trail), Diving
     Banaszak won the three-meter competition (247.20 points) and placed fourth in the one-meter (241.35) in a quadrangular on October 12, featuring Minnesota State University, Mankato, St. Cloud State University (Minn.) and Truman State University (Mo.).

Jack Hehli, Jr., West Salem (H.S.), Tennis
    
Hehli won all four of its matches as UWL earned a pair of victories over UW-Stevens Point and UW-Superior on October 12. At No. 6 singles, he earned a three-set (3-6, 6-0, 12-10) victory over Anthony Janes of UW-Stevens Point and a straight set (6-3, 6-3) win over Brandon Chu of UW-Superior. Hehli also went 2-0 in doubles, earning a 6-1 victory at No. 1 doubles with Tyler Schneider over UW-Stevens Point's Steven Benoy/Frederick Diehl and a 6-0 win at No. 2 doubles with Ben Schneider over UW-Superior's Brandon Chu and Igor Guetten Chaves. 

September 30-October 6
Gwen Hinz, Jr., Freedom (H.S.), Cross Country
     Hinz moved from 50th at 3,000-meters to finish 36th at the University of Notre Dame Joe Piane Invitational Gold Race on October 4. Her time of 18:03.4 in the 5,000-meter race was a personal-best in cross country and converts to her fastest career 6,000-meter time. Hinz was UWL's top finisher in the race as the Eagles placed ninth overall. It marked her first time as UWL's top-finisher. A total of 182 runners completed the race.

Aidan Matthai, Jr., Wauwatosa (East), Cross Country
     Matthai used a smooth race distribution to run a personal-best by 31 seconds to finish fifth at the University of Notre Dame Joe Piane Invitational on October 4. He completed the 8,000-meter course in 24:00.6 in helping lead UWL to the team title, featuring several NCAA Division I schools. A total of 150 runners completed the race.

September 23-29
Allison Balduzzi, Jr., Onalaska (H.S.), Golf
    Balduzzi tied for 16th at the UW-Whitewater Invitational September 22-23 at TPC Wisconsin. She was UWL's top finisher, carding rounds of 78 and 80 for a two-day total of 158. A total of 94 golfers completed the two rounds. It was Balduzzi's best two-round total of the season. 

Jessica Stewart, So., Plainfield, Ill. (North), Soccer
   Stewart started in UWL's 3-1 loss to fourth-ranked Christopher Newport University (Va.) on September 27. She played 84 minutes in the game.

September 16-22
Taylor Larson, Jr., Hartland (Menomonee Falls), Volleyball
      Larson averaged 3.58 digs in five matches last week, recording three double-digit matches. She opened the week with 16 digs at UW-River Falls on September 18. Larson was named to the UWL Invitational All-Tournament Team on September 20-21 after averaging 3.47 digs in four matches. She had 19 digs versus College of St. Scholastica (Minn.) on September 20 and 15 against Central College (Iowa) on September 21. Larson recorded 12 aces and 21 assists during the week. 

Grant Matthai, Jr., Wauwatosa (East), Cross Country
     Matthai placed second overall at the Indiana State University John McNichols Invitational on September 21. He was leading the race, which featured several NCAA Division I teams, with 450-meters to go, fell, but recovered to finish second with a time of 24:13.3 on the 8,000-meter course. A total of 466 runners completed the race. Matthai helped lead UWL to the title in the 27-team non-NCAA Division I standings. 

September 9-15
Lauren Lindow, So., East Troy (H.S.), Tennis
    Lindow went 3-0 on the week, dropping only two games in the three matches. She earned a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles over UW-Stout's Ella Lamppa and a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles over Chloe Struss of UW-River Falls on September 14. Lindow concluded the week with a 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 3 singles over Gracie Niebler of Carroll University (Wis.) on September 15. 

Ryan Gwaltney, Fr., Rochester, Minn. (Mayo), Cross Country
   
Gwaltney, competing in his first collegiate meet, led UWL with an eighth-place finish at the Concordia University Wisconsin Ken Weidt Classic on September 14. He completed the 8,000-meter course in 26:46.3 in helping lead UWL to a second-place team finish. A total of 142 runners completed the race.

September 2-8
Jenna Wiebke, Sr., Caledonia, Minn., Golf
     Wiebke tied for medalist honors at the UW-Eau Claire Georgianni Invitational on September 7-8. She shot a two-day total of 164 (84-80) in helping lead UWL to the team title. A total of 28 golfers completed the two rounds. 

Ryan Daines, Sr., Westby (H.S.), Football
    Daines led UWL with eight tackles, including 3.0 for loss, in a 35-0 win at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (N.Y.) September 5. He recorded four solo tackles and 0.5 quarterback sack after missing the last nine games last season due to injury. UWL earned its first shutout since a 42-0 win at UW-Eau Claire on November 10, 2018 and its first opening game shutout since a 42-0 victory over Howard Payne University (Texas) on September 6, 2003. 

August 26-September 1
Shelby Roth, So., Neenah (H.S.), Tennis
     Roth earned a straight set victory (6-2, 6-2) over Gracie Ha of UW-Whitewater in UWL's 5-4 dual victory on August 30. It marked UWL's first dual win over UW-Whitewater since a 6-3 victory on October 7, 2006, snapping a 17-match losing streak to the Warhawks. It was also UW-Whitewater's first league dual loss since UWL's win in 2006. The Warhawks had won 102 consecutive WIAC duals.

Jillian Sawadski, So., Mount Prospect, Ill. (H.S.), Soccer
    Sawadski had both game-winning goals in a pair of victories to open the season. She finished with two goals and one assist in a 5-0 victory over UW-Superior on August 30, recording seven shots with five on goal. Sawadski then had one goal and one assist in a 7-1 win at The College of St. Scholastica (Minn.) on September 1, finishing with two shots, both coming on goal. She had three goals, two assists and nine shots with seven on goal in the two games.
